Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I'm onboard with MrPopo there. Any time a game gives me the option to be a bad guy, I take it. We are so often corralled into being "the hero" that being a villain is a breath of fresh air. I nuked Megaton know what I mean.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I remember being at PAX when Bethesda showed off a gameplay video of Fallout 3 that caps off with nuking Megaton. When I saw it I was like "I WANNA DO THAT!"Exhuminator wrote:I'm onboard with MrPopo there. Any time a game gives me the option to be a bad guy, I take it. Word. Metroid Prime is one of my favorite games possibly of all time, yet I still haven't been able to beat the second one. I always loose interest half way through.Exhuminator wrote:I don't know about that. Probably for the best as I've seen the ending and hated that it brought back Samus stripping to a skin tight suit. That was a tradition in Metroid that should have stayed dead.

Being a bad guy in videogames is always the fun way to play, if you aren't overly punished for it. Nuking Megaton was fun... but you lose one of the major towns in the game. I personally hated Rivet City, but that had to become my go-to. It would have been nice if say, a nearby raider camp became friendly to you because of it. You get in good at Tenpenny, but the loading screens...

I can't play evil in games, even on second play-throughs. I can occasionally do the bad thing, or make the minor evil or selfish decision. I mean, I'm as klepto as anyone else in Bethesda games. But I just can't nuke Megaton, for example. I don't know why. It makes me feel bad.

Am I the only one that liked Metroid Prime 2 a lot? Both sequels don't come close to the magic of the first, but don't all trilogies have that one standout? Definitely one of the most consistent awesome gaming trilogies ever in my book. What I liked about Prime 2 was that it ramped up the difficulty a ton. Torvus and Sky Sanctuary were incredible.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I am playing through Metroid Prime 2 again for the third time. I have never finished it before but this time it is clicking. The atmosphere and grit feel like a complete contrast with Prime 1. It feels like I am on a slimy alien world and the shadows are coming for me. The creepiest monents at the end of Prime are outstripped in the first hour.Xeogred wrote:Am I the only one that liked Metroid Prime 2 a lot? The reason I say that Metroid Prime is one of the greatest trilogies is because of the development of the story and Samus as a character. With so little dialogue and an almost entirely optional back story, the universe collapses into war over a tainted power supply, planets fall victim to attacks from another galaxy, and a lone bounty hunter risks everything to save the universe, defeat the Space Pirates, and get revenge on the ghost of the monster that killed her family.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
