I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the first two levels and that cool city. Nothing quite like it elsewhere.
Don't forget there was Mysteries of the Sith, an expansion. I don't recall liking it as much, but I only played it once way back in the day...
Yeah, there is a lot in this game to enjoy as I go back. I just killed the boss twins, so I should be close to getting my dark side powers. I'm at the start of level 12 I believe.
I'll likely be trying out Mysteries of the Sith as soon as I finish this. Not sure what I'll do after that for my FPS fix. Probably the Quake II expansions.
Ok, I've officially been seduced by evil. We got dark side, bitches! It's obvious in Dark Forces II that the light side path is the "correct" one, as the story gets clipped in the dark side videos.
Also, I'm glad Kyle showed Jerec why there are only ever two Sith walking around(one master, one apprentice), because seriously, Jerec has trained like 6 of them. Come on, dude, that would have totally bitten you in the ass eventually anyway. Kyle's doing you a favor by killing off all of them.
Heh, I guess I am the only person currently playing an FPS.
Anyway, I have continued on from Dark Forces II to the Mysteries of the Sith expansion. I am now on level 6, which puts me through the Kyle Katarn section and into Mara Jade's. Kyle's section was a mixed bag, and while there are parts I enjoyed, the second level and that stupid security gate really sapped a lot of my love for the level design. Also, I'm not a fan of how the double-stacked weapons are. It took me forever to figure out how to use the scope once I got it. But Mara's first level inside a Hutt's palace has definitely done a lot to redeem my interest, and I hear the game is back loaded with its best stuff.
Man, Mysteries of the Sith is tougher than Dark Forces II. The game is broken into four sections composed of 14 levels total, and I am in level 13. The final section is levels 12, 13, and 14 and deals with Mara Jade following Kyle Katarn to a hidden Jedi temple. Unfortunately once you arrive, you discover your guns don't work, so it's all lightsaber battles against some very nasty enemies. I'm crawling through this.
I'm on the second to last level of the second campaign of Heretic's "Shadows of the Serpent Riders" bonus campaign. And I just noobed out and rocketed myself in the face. I think I was close to finishing the level, which would have just left the 8 Maulataur fight.

I could never get into Heretic... but maybe I should give it another go sometime. I mean I love the Doom formula and it's basically that with a reskin, but yeah. It just makes me want to play Doom.

The deeper you get into it the more you'll see it plays differently from Doom. While the weapons are mostly transplants the enemies are not, and that combined with the level design really makes it a distinct game.
