This is a game that requires precise controls though.Ack wrote:Ease of access and price, most likely.
If it were, say, FFIV, I'd say go for it.

Ok, I was digging the possibility of playing this on the go on a device I have with me anyway, but will happily nix the idea.

I wasn't trying to discourage you and/or steer you towards the pricier option, but try to picture game like Link to the Past that requires much more precision and timing when attacking. Also, you need to hold down ("charge") the attack button and then release to damage most enemies, as opposed to just hammering an attack button. Not sure how this would translate to a touch-screen.dsheinem wrote:Ok, I was digging the possibility of playing this on the go on a device I have with me anyway, but will happily nix the idea.
A question for Popo and other stat-hounds: besides the "fun" and "completion" factors, is there any point in leveling more than one weapon? I never did this as a kid. I stuck the boy with the sword, girl with spear, and sprite with bow & arrows for the whole game. I think during my last playthrough a few years ago I leveled a few extra weapons just for kicks, but it didn't seem to benefit me much.
I am kind of obsessive about having maxed out magic, however...

No way in balls would I even think to play this game on a touchpad, holy crap. That is a nightmare.
Just reinforcing what Bone said...
This is a real time ARPG, I think that really sums it up. Not a good call without a real controller.

No, there's not. There are certain periods where one of your weapons falls behind in power, but it's not a big enough deal to be worth leveling multiple weapons. At the same time, the only benefit to leveling weapons is the charge attacks which aren't really worth using most of the time anyway. It's not like magic where the level increases the power.BoneSnapDeez wrote:A question for Popo and other stat-hounds: besides the "fun" and "completion" factors, is there any point in leveling more than one weapon? In Final Fantasy Adventure there are enemies immune to certain weapons, so the switching makes sense. I wonder if that was planned for SoM but then scrapped when the developers realized how annoying that would be in combination with the leveling.

Just got the Flammie Drum. Flyin' around the overworld now. Good times.

You should level up three melee and three range. Certain areas work better with melee or range weapons, so not getting behind on your chosen six makes the playthrough smoother. Plus if you play to upgrade, you never need to grind (except for magic). For my wife and I, while we upgrade all weapons, we really only switch out between spear, sword, ax, whip, bow, and javelin. Once everything is upgraded, the default weapons are sword for me (hero), spear for her (girl), and ax for the sprite (rotational).BoneSnapDeez wrote:That's what I figured. Incidentally, my wife just told me today she'd like to finish the game we started last year. It's about time.
