Dave, I think that's your problem. You are nothing like sweet sweet Kevin Sorbo.

Everyone should be more like sweet sweet Kevin Sorbo.

You know what's even sweeter? A Kevin Sorbet.

I watched Serenity again.

I loved Firefly. I always feel so sad that it got cancelled. I like to think of the Reavers as a metaphor for soulless Fox executives.

April Fool's Day

Meh, I'm predictable, so what?

I bought a copy of the original April Fool's Day over New Year's specifically so I could watch it on April 1st, and it's a fun little slasher. I was a little bummed because the gore effects I was promised really only constitute one particular scene near the beginning, though what a scene it is. There's a guy in the water by a dock, a ferry comes in too close, a bit of a crunch, and in my opinion the freakiest scene in the film.

A group of college students come together for a fun-filled vacation in a rich friend's old vacation house on a secluded island around April 1st, so horrible hijinks ensue. But then they start disappearing one by one, until their dwindling numbers start to find the bodies, all while their host is getting stranger and stranger...until the twist ending. There are some great moments of tension in the film, though they aren't dragged out for long, and when folks aren't vanishing the humor really helps keep things moving. I find it hard not to like April Fool's Day.

Also Biff is in the movie. I kept hoping he would shout, "McFly!"

I watched this recently, and noticed for the first time that
the guy that Mal shoots in the beginning
is totally Dennis from Always Sunny. Pretty great.

I was also watching with my girlfriend's mom, and forgot how freaky some of those reaver moments are. I should've started her off on the show, as I think I've scared her away from Firefly goodness forever.

Oh! And I'm playing a Serenity RPG campaign right now. It's super fun. I'm a male companion. :D

Yeah, I like it, but at the same time it feels really tame for some of the comics in it. Eddie Murphy feels toned down, as does Richard Pryor.
