And when the time comes, do you plan to hop into an actual race, or are you going to simply time yourself on the track?ce on the roads? A person with a 17:20-17:30 5k time can likely run a 5 minute mile.

Keep us posted!
As far as running goes, yes, running on the streets is my only running exercise. I time my self on an even mile.

My neighborhood is a hot spot for 5 and 10K's which I have participated in, but have never kept time.

I can keep a good jogging pace, but would one day like to run a mile as if I was being chased by a psycho hose beast.

I'm good at keeping fit in the summer, but winter is a different story. It seems like the minute I sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, the crummy weather starts. I dislike the winter weather where I live, so I tend to stay indoors until the weather improves. I love to eat, so I wind up eating too much. I don't eat junk food, fast food, or soda, but I do eat in excess. I rationalize by telling myself that I'll burn it all off by running, cycling, hiking, and canoeing (all activities I love) in the summer.

My father called me last month to tell me he was having gastric bypass surgery. He had grown so fat he couldn't enjoy the outdoors any longer. This was my wake up call.

This winter I'm doing something about it. I have started a calorie log. I write down everything I eat along with the calories and the protein. This has drastically changed the amount of food I eat. Did you know that a serving of bread is only one slice? A serving of turkey is only two ounces. A serving of cheese is only one slice. The way I used to fix a sandwich, I was eating about four meals worth of food. Now I'm learning to eat in moderation.

I have also written down a list of goals for myself.
  • I will shed ten pounds of fat before March 20 (about ten weeks) by counting calories. I will consume fewer than two thousand calories each day in pursuit of this goal.
  • After March 20, I will switch from burning fat to building muscle. I need to find a way to measure this. I will have to eat more calories during this time.
  • I will control hunger by waking up early each morning to eat breakfast.
  • I will control thirst by drinking at least five cups of water every day. I will also drink one cup of water before I drink anything sweet like juice.
  • I will weigh myself each evening and write the number down in my calorie log. I bought a bathroom scale yesterday. Yesterday evening I weighed 185 pounds (about 84 kg). For reference I am six feet (about 182 cm) tall. I have not weighed less than 175 since my freshman year of high school.
  • I will drop my body fat below twelve percent by June 21 (about twenty-three weeks).
This will be hard, but I believe that I can do it.

I do work out, but it just doesn't show.

I let Chester here do the workouts for all my minions.

But I think he cheated by taking some strange chemicals.

But still, he is tough little minion!
