I need to upload some photos from my last expedition hike late last year, which focused on portions of the Ozark Mountains in Missouri. Much of that was just insanely beautiful. I enjoyed everything except the part where I slipped on a slimy rock while fording the Black River and fell right in the damn thing.
Funny you should mention it, but I actually just went hiking last weekend from Amicalola Falls up to Springer Mountain and back. I'm a bit out of shape for it, considering how much my ankles hurt afterward, but I'm interested in hearing about some of the other places to check out up there.

The top 3 parks in north Georgia IMO:

http://www.gastateparks.org/CloudlandCanyon

http://www.gastateparks.org/PanolaMountain

http://www.gastateparks.org/TallulahGorge

Keep in mind there's a few I have not been to yet, so I'm not saying there's nothing better.

That's it for a while. I think only three people actually look at this thread.

All three of those are excellent, I also recommend Black Rock and Vogel, if you have not been to them.

Vogel is old, I believe it was the first state park, but it is at the base of Blood Mountain and it is a bit out of the way, so most day tourist do not go to it.

If you're talking about Black Rock mountain around Clayton, yes it's a great climb and great view. You can see Tennessee from up there.

Thats the one.

I have been to most of the state parks in Georgia, and am currently working on Tennessee's. My wife and I are still restoring our camper, once it is good to go, we will be hitting all the parks we can.

This is one of my favorites, if you haven't been there:

Although it was accidentally man made, it's a lot of fun to explore.

Providence is amazing. It is not too far from where I went to college.

Only part of N. Georgia I know is Lookout Mountain and the part I always accidentally drove into when going the wrong way on I75 or on 24.

Battleground GA then. Good winery there, and a Racetrac gas station.

I was actually half-joking. I used to live in Chatt. So I ducked down into north GA occasionally, but yeah, half those times were me still trying to figure out how the highways go together...
