So tempted to buy a Jaguar.

(insert noise's comment about how I should buy a better gaming PC instead).

I've explored the realm of "old school Atari" but the Jaguar remains a mystery to me.

you should get a better gaming PC.

I can understand the Jaguar curiosity though. Atari was a great company with a fascinating history. Personally, there's not enough Jag exclusives to ever justify me buying one. Sure I'd love to try the AvP game on there, though I've had no shortage of other AvP games to play.

Wait a second, is that advertisement image real?
Yes. In last All Gen Gamers podcast they interviewed guy who is doing this console.
Some dental company bought those patterns (i dunno how you call this thing in english  ) from Atari after Jaguar was discontinued.

And now, after few years in storage he bought those patterns(?) from them and he is doing new cartridge based console .
Sorry for my engrish :)

The Jaguar is worth it for Tempest 2000 with a rotary controller alone.

I was thinking along the same lines, as Tempest 2000 was also released for Windows, and there's no lack of weirdo controllers for PC.

Fast, are there any good USB rotary controllers that are easy to get your hands on these days?

Yes:

And a plethora of diy versions.

You can tweak the spintrak and the turbo to match an arcade spinner for perfection. BUT they will require you to build a box, or buy one.

I always wondered if something like this would work:

It is doable, but you cant tweak the weight. Most people who do it do not like it.

I may cave and get one sooner rather than later.

I love Atari systems (obviously).

However, I still don't think I could ever justify a Jaguar CD purchase.
