I am on my second Sont Trinitron Flat and both (this far worse than the last) have had geometry issues.
Amazing quality picture when they work.

dogman91 wrote:Just one thing (though I'm sure CRTGAMER will disagree). Ask the seller for the model number and then look that up to determine whether it's an standard-definition or HD TV. You'll want a standard definition TV for all your retro consoles pre-PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era.
Any HDTV, even HD CRTs, will upscale the signal to the TV set's native resolution and cause some (potentially) pretty ugly artifacts. Plus maybe even some input lag. No sweet scanlines either.
You are right, I do prefer the HD CRT over SD. Especially on larger tubes where the scan lines are way too big. No upscale issues compared to LCDs and LEDs. Really, the HD CRT handles ALL resolutions from 240p/480i all the way up to 1080i just fine. NO ARTIFACT issues whatsoever on the HD Tube.
For the ten dollar price HD or SD, a 37" tube is a killer price! If the address was under two hours away I would have been tempted to race the OP there!
@ ashreii - Nice bonus that the remote is included. You can get replacement remotes at the Thrift store in case you need a backup/ Just look for basically the same era in design. Scrutinize the ANT button if your TV has dual RF inputs. Recommend ONLY powering on at the TV panel and not the Remote due to the power detection chip issues. You do not want to accidentally send a remote signal twice to the sensor and cause havoc with the fragile chips inside.

But it's an amazing tv.
Agree this TV will be a monster to move and is front heavy. Be sure nobody has "dinner plate" belt buckles and shirts untucked to cover up scratch potential pants metal buttons.
Of note, the HD Tube is a lot heavier then the SD tube of the same size. You will want a solid stand, preferably with a heavy duty extra center vertical support.
You can pop the back cover and give it a good dust out inside. Have care, HIGH VOLTAGE at Tube and Flyback Transformer even when unplugged! While the cover is off, mount a thru bolt anchor in that back cover to safety wire it to the wall.

This will keep the front heavy TV from tipping off the shelf, an issue if you have climbing kids or earth quakes.

Great advice. I highly appreciate it. Not even sure my 4 year old and 10 month old will be allowed down there yet. My god are they a handful.

@ Hobie: LOL
@ emwearz: Were you unable to fix it in the service menu?
Yes, definitely. These things are difficult to lift. Not so much the weight alone, but yeah, there aren't any good handholds. If you don't have an SUV or a truck or something, if you have a buddy that does, ask to have him help as well as use his truck to transport it.

And gloves, you will not regret purchasing this guy, but you will regret it if you don't bring gloves.

I agree with this. I have a 16:9 HD CRT, and the picture is beautiful.

I wasn't, I was able to make it better (mostly by adding a bit of overscan), I plan on taking some better photos and putting them in CRT's thread to see what people think is up, but no amount of playing with pin cushions, etc seemed to help, but I am not the best as this stuff so hopefully that thread can help.
Re: Opinions on this TV for game room build?
I once carried a 30 inch CRT TV up a flight of stairs. I could feel my knees buckle. It didn't feel too heavy at the time, but damn if my hands weren't chewed up from the weight of it all, it has that nasty hard plastic molding so that it has something to sit on when you place it on your TV stand.
After that I went and power cleaned a Ford Festiva, and ate four cans of tuna. PROTEIN!
Moral of the story: get that TV, it will be amazing for your gaming endeavors.

I have the same problem and unfortunately it looks like horizontal linearity is something you can't adjust in the service menu. You have to adjust the chassis or something like that.
