Xenoblade Chronicles X.

It's the reason I bought a console, and frankly more excited to me than adding another Zelda to my backlog would be anyway. Supposedly still on track for a 2015 release, although I wouldn't be surprised if it just barely beats the end of year.

Bleh, Mario Party 10 is pretty underwhelming.

As someone who hasn't played the series since Mario Party 2, what the fuck happened? A large percentage of the fun was everyone going around the large board solo, with everyone racing towards the next star and it was fun to find different shortcuts. And of course the minigames were so much fun. So what the hell happened with Mario Party 10 (and the previous games in the series if they sucked)? What is with the kart you all travel in at once? That's the dumbest move they could have made with the series. The minigames are fairly meh too.

I'm really not surprised. I only liked the N64 ones.

Honestly, I feel like there were 2 key differences between Mario Party on the N64 and Mario Party post-N64.

1. The experience was new.
2. I was like 10 when I first played it.

The mini games in the N64 are no better than the modern ones (some of them sucked) and the board game element still annoyed me back then. Frankly I think the most damning thing about the franchise isn't that it's gotten worse, but that it's not gotten any better.

I'd agree with you, if it wasn't for the fact my wife and I (and some of my friends, for that matter) still have a blast playing both Mario Party 1 and 2 on the N64 together. I know what you mean though, it's partly nostalgia. But even my wife, who is far more easily amused by average party/minigame games than me, was really disappointed by Mario Party 10. Neither of us have any desire to play it ever again.

I think people just want the Mario Party games to return to their original form; even if it risks the games becoming creatively redundant. I occasionally play the N64 titles and have a lot of fun doing so. I would have loved nothing more than the latest entry to have been a step back to the old formula.

As an aside: The car mechanic was not well-received in the previous entry, so they bring it back??? Who is in charge over there?

Yes, exactly! I don't understand why they even thought the car mechanic would be a good idea in the first place!

Release dates according to Nintendo.com (north america):

Splatoon - May 2015
Yoshi's Wooly World - 2015 (nothing specific)
Mario Maker - 2015 (nothing specific)
Xenoblade Chronicles X - 2015 (nothing specific)
Devil's Third - TBD
Rodea - did not show up on Nintendo's site for me. Some other sites list it for this fall.

....yeeaahh.. I think we need a Nintendo Direct for some solid dates and maybe some teasers for new games.

What exactly attracts you to this game that you bought a console just for it?
