North American Power Source usable on Mega Drive?
I have a Japanese Mega Drive with no power. Can I just use my North American Power Source with it or is that not a good idea?

That should work just fine.
I'm no electrician, but I believe you're in the clear.

That's my thoughts too, I was just hoping someone could 100% confirm.

Confirmed. I just checked this. The Japanese Mega Drive 1 uses 9v 1.2amp just like the Model 1 Genesis. The Mega Drive 2 uses 10v 850mA just like the Genesis 2.

I'm eager to hear how it worked out for you, Crabmaster. What games are you playing on your Mega Drive?

Re: North American Power Source usable on Mega Drive?
hmmm.
it says on that link that the genesis 3 uses a special plug?
Well, I've been using a genesis 2 plug on both of mine. And there has been no problems.
I built mine out of random parts. I found the genesis 3 console by itself and the plugs later on.
I guess the stuff is still compatible, kinda like how the genesis 1 plug works on the Master system.

Check the voltage, the amperage, and the polarity. If that all matches, I think you're all good.
