I wonder how much it'll impress now in a post-Fringe world

I'm in, one of the best things Fox ran in that decade. I didn't like the tail end of it much compared to most of the rest as it just felt like when Robert Patrick was in it got dragged down into stupid stuff. Maybe Fox is realizing there's more to this and this is just a test. They do on rare occasion realize they screw up taking something good off the air and infuriating their fans (family guy) and sometimes not while others do rubbing their face in it (futurama.)

Tried to get into fringe, but the quality was too inconsistent and just didnt have whatever 'it' factor the XFiles had. XFiles was able to convincingly pull off the ridiculous stuff it did, while Fringe just seemed kinda goofy and cheesy.

We gave up on Fringe I think after the fourth season? When things were way into the future and just way too out there.

I was a huge X-Files fan, right at the inception of the show. I remember racing home from the mall because I had forgotten to tape the season finale of season 2 and couldn't miss it.

I remember watching the finale (after falling a bit out of the show until the two main stars returned at the end) but couldn't tell you what the big cliffhanger was. Anyone want to share?

I always liked the "monster of the week" episodes more than any of the longer story arcs. My favorite episode revolved around a band of carnival freaks (probably not a politically correct term, but what else am I supposed to call 'em?) one of whom was a killer. The twist really left an impression on me.
One of conjoined twins could detach from his brother for no purpose other than murder.
The whole episode had a bit of a "Wes Craven" feel with extensive use of silicon and latex prosthetic body parts for special effects.

There was more payoff in that one episode than that damn smoking man ever gave us.

Thing is, many of the die-hards are gonna want to see the core conspiracy arc stuff addressed, but the more casual viewers and newcomers might deal better with "monster of the week". So where do you think they'll go with this?
