I've been keeping an eye on this one since it first came up on Bloody Disgusting. It has my interest.
What was the last movie you've seen?

I really want to go see It Follows but I don't have anybody to go with.
Hard enough finding people with similar interests up here, let alone ones that will go see a horror movie with me.

Just go see it. (It looks awesome.) Since you are in a college town, there is a good chance that you will meet some people with your interests at the screening (even if they are not necessarily students). At worst, you will have seen an awesome horror film.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I really want to go see It Follows but I don't have anybody to go with.![]()

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I've been in a movie mood lately so I've seen a couple.
First, I went to the cinema (!) and saw Blade Runner! Final cut and everything, which was nice. I hadn't seen the film before and while it was nice, I don't think it's great. It's really lacking in its characterization sometimes - I couldn't make tails or head of the motivations of the characters - and some parts are kind of corny (The dove, trying to kill Deckard with backflips), but the photography and general direction is amazing. So it was worth it in the end.
Also, couldn't help but notice that the ending theme was plagiarized in Deus Ex. (Or was it System Shock 2? Can't remember, but the tremble is very obviously the same).
And, second, I finally watched The Thief and The Cobbler, which I think will become one of my favourite films and, by far, my favourite animated feature. All this without being finished, even, it's just that good. The average scene in this film is so well-animated that they would have been centerpieces in any other movie. If you like animation, I think you should see this and it's far more accessible and fun than Fantasia, even if you'll see some pencil tests.

There is a huge stigma around guys who look like me going to movies alone. It creeps people out. Especially when seeing a horror movie.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Just go see it. (It looks awesome.) I looked at EG Robison, dude looks pretty average to me...
No, long hair all combed back, big sideburns, glasses. I look like the murderer on those cold case shows where all the cases seem to have happened in rural areas during the 80's.

If I can deal with shit from people who simply read me as a public crossdresser you can deal with people thinking you might be a creep if you see a fuckin' movie
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I don't really mind solo viewers. Only time I have ever been creeped out by someone else in a theater was this one time that I was catching I think Guardians of the Galaxy in the middle of the day right when it was about to go out of theaters. Had the whole theater to myself until right before it started. Two really serious looking middle eastern guys walked in, scanned the theater, and decided to pick the seats directly behind me. Thing that weirded me out though was they didn't say a word to each other the entire movie.
Racial profiling at it's best
, but hell I like a buffer zone in a none crowded theater.

I caught a few minutes of that a couple months ago. It's one of those movies you've never heard of and you can't really believe it exists. Pairing John Candy and Ally Sheedy? Wha?Luke wrote:ONLY THE LONELY

Catch all of it if you have the chance. I romanticize the movie a bit because it has Chicago written all over it, but it is a good flick.Jrecee wrote: I caught a few minutes of that a couple months ago. But yeah. Someone sat down in a meeting and said "John Candy and Ally Sheedy! They're a natural fit!" and people agreed. Hollywood is weird. And speaking of weird, Why in the world is WEIRD SCIENCE not streaming on Netflix?
