A bit maybe, but there's an item-crash like Rondo that helps make up for it.MrPopo wrote:Is it just me, or are the subweapons in Bloodlines quite nerfed compared to previous CV games?

I don't think they're that weak compared to other CV games. And if they are, the item crash definitely makes up for it. The axe is my favorite. Normally, you can only throw the axe up and have it fall back down in an arc, so you're limited to how you can use it. In Bloodlines, the item crash for the axe propels three axes in a straight line, so you sort of have a dual weapon.Gunstar Green wrote:A bit maybe, but there's an item-crash like Rondo that helps make up for it.MrPopo wrote:Is it just me, or are the subweapons in Bloodlines quite nerfed compared to previous CV games?

The powered up item attack that uses more hearts (or in this case gems).Xeogred wrote:item-crash = da hell?
Up+C in Bloodlines if I remember correctly.
Re: Castlevania Appreciation Thread
I was listening to a recent Retronauts podcast and they touched upon the series and I heard all these Castlevania titles I never even knew existed. I thought the series died after their attempt at a fighting game
They also had a fondness for a character named Joost (GET JOOST!)
But no, apparently there's still plenty of "[Word here] of [Word here]" games in this series on recent platforms.

You mean you played through Rondo of Blood and Bloodlines without knowing that you could do the item crash thing?Xeogred wrote:item-crash = da hell?

Don't worry. I did the same thing a few years ago.Ziggy587 wrote:You mean you played through Rondo of Blood and Bloodlines without knowing that you could do the item crash thing?Xeogred wrote:item-crash = da hell?

Oh, but I do worry!
The item crash in Rondo can be nice to clear out a room, but I almost always save it for the bosses. Especially when you're about to die against a boss, just unleash as many item crashes as you can (you're invincible while performing the crash, and you can back flip out of harms way if needed).
The item crashed in Bloodlines are alright, but I tend not to use them. The last whip upgrade though (I don't know what it's called - the one where your whip glows blue and you lose it after taking 1 hit) has an awesome crash. It clears out a room nicely, and if you can make it to the boss with it you're almost guaranteed victory.

Re: Castlevania Appreciation Thread
To be fair, IIRC, the first time I played through Bloodlines I didn't know about item crashing. Although, I think I was also playing on easy. When I just recently played through the game on medium, and especially hard difficulty, I couldn't imagine doing it without using item crashes.
