And now he has to stop and the cycle is broken! Kojima is free!
He should hook up with Yuji Naka, and then the two of them could have a mad orgy with Treasure and produce the video game version of meth.

He was probably about to do that with Silent Hills.marurun wrote:And now he has to stop and the cycle is broken! Kojima is free!

He is one of the incredibly few designers that is properly credited on the box*. People know who he is.Exhuminator wrote:I believe so. The vast majority of gamers are not as vested in the credentials of gaming as some us are. I would wager half the people who have enjoyed Metal Gear games don't even know who Hideo Kojima is.

I love every Metal Gear game I've ever touched, even The Twin Snakes. Excluding Portable Ops, which Kojima didn't make anyhow.MrEco wrote:Wow, I'm honestly a little surprised at all the disdain for MGS in this thread. Not that I don't understand why someone might not like the series, but I've always gotten the impression people on this forum generally liked them.
I suppose what surprises me most is that this is the first time I've seen this kind of reaction, maybe?
I can't say with any confidence that I'll play any Metal Gear games Konami makes without Kojima. I'd have a hard time not seeing them as apocryphal. That odd touch he adds, all that conspiracy theory stuff and engrish and awkward fan service and countless dialouge-stuffed cutscenes... it really makes MGS what it is, and not just another AAA game series.

Unless I missed some news where this was cancelled I'm sure he'll be finishing it. He seemed pretty excited to be working with Del Toro.Xeogred wrote:He was probably about to do that with Silent Hills.marurun wrote:And now he has to stop and the cycle is broken! Kojima is free!

His contract with Konami ends in December. He's still obviously working mostly on TPP until September and outside of PT there's been no real signs of Silent Hills truly being in development. There's no time.Gunstar Green wrote:Unless I missed some news where this was cancelled I'm sure he'll be finishing it. I don't think much stacks up to him sticking around for it. I would be kind of shocked if Konami keeps him around on contracts afterwards. Square didn't give a damn when Uematsu wasn't permanent with them lol.
Who knows...

Re: Kojima quits?
From what I've been reading he's not going to be an employee of Konami anymore but it doesn't mean he's not still going to develop games for Konami.
There's just not enough information right now to say anything for sure.
