Jeff Minter of Llamasoft has some not-so-nice things to say about Atari, and in this case, I don't blame him -

I hope Minter wins this one. He's an odd duck in the game developer world and I love him for it. Honestly, I doubt Atari has any intention of doing anything with Tempest anymore, and even if they did, they would only have Minter to thank for the series remaining at all culturally relevant all these years later. Between Tempest 2000, Space Giraffe, and his other Tempest-like games, Minter is one of the few people out there that still breathes any refreshing life into the old tube shoot.

I would like Minter to win, but if Atari decides to press, I don't see it happening. After the whole Tetris look/feel lawsuits, Atari kinda has this one in the bag should they sue. Minter did indeed revive Tempest with T2K, but he did that work under contract, which means Atari controls the fruits of his labor. Minter and Atari will either have to come to peaceful terms or Minter will have to make his TxK mo' different. I would really like to see what Minter could do with some other classic game mechanics and take a little time away from Tempest.

I've been using the SNESAmp plugin via XMPlay to listen to some SNES OSTs. One OST in particularly has really stood out for me lately, Brain Lord's. I had beaten this game back in 1998, but I didn't remember how good its music is. Top notch stuff to my ears. If anyone knows any other SNES OSTs that are similar to this one (electro jazz funk?) please let me know. Love the slap bass and synth riffs.

It was a flawed idea from the start.

Lots of stuff - from a consumer standpoint, they're still here, but it's technically a new company. One that a lot of big companies no longer have a vested interest in, due to how the restructuring was done.

If you're a fan of puns, you could say that OnLive has its head in the clouds more than it has its feet on the ground.

Such a sad story. When I first heard of it I thought they must be out of their minds because there is no internet infrastructure to support that kind of an idea but then I thought maybe internet in the USA/UK is so fast that it can do this. Apparently I am wrong. Confusing since many of the early reviews were positive.

I wonder how it still exists or who is paying for it. The article states that at most they got concurrent 1,500 users or so .

Again, it's like Gametap. I canceled that in 2013 after seeing only one new game a week, good games be taken off, and even the forums becoming shut down (they still are). I don't even think GT has even 1500 users anymore. When Turner put it up for sale and the similar European gaming service bought it, was when it went down.

Has anyone who resides in the U.S. bought any games from amazon.jp before? I found a website that says you can, but I've yet to find any video game sellers who offer international shipping on the site.

I kinda wanna make a dedicated TV-hookup DosBox system. Tiny footprint (either a micro case or maybe even a tablet with an external HDD), all I need is power, HDMI, and USB (for kb/mouse). Basically, I want an Ouya that can run Windows (because the eXoDOS collection is beautiful for old dos games on windows).

Anyone know if they make wireless kbs that have a power switch (sleep is okay, all consoles these days really only sleep not power down) on them? I know wired kbs used to do that back in the day, but I can't think if I've seen wireless ones do it or not.

I gave the OST you recommended a go, and it's in the vein of what I was seeking. I appreciate the recommendation. My favorite track from it is Rock Downfall. It's got some excellent arpeggio action.
