Pretty much  .
My favorite lines from the movie:

Detective Fronteiri: You filmed him dying.
Lou Bloom: That's my job, that's what I do, I'd like to think if you're seeing me you're having the worst day of your life.

It was just delivered so matter of fact I found it hilarious.

The creepiest lines from the movie:

Nina Romina: Friends don't pressure friends to sleep with them.
Lou Bloom: Actually that's not true because as you know Nina, a friend is a gift you give yourself.

Creepy because Lou is reciting some self help reference he read on the net that actually does not correlate at all to what he's trying to accomplish. But in his sick twisted head he's using a misunderstood quote to justify his actions in a way he thinks is intellectually convincing. A salivating carnivore doing its idea of a mating dance before devouring the prey. It shows just how sociopathic and emapthy-lacking he truly is. Superb writing and acting.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I don't give a...about topping that.

That movie. I'm not sure if anyone could properly describe it.

Can we all agree that SHREK is one of the best movies as of yet?

If you haven't watched it lately, please do. It's so darned clever and provides so many chuckles. Case in point, very early in the movie a magic mirror shows Snow White and claims "She lives with seven men, but she isn't easy".

Edit* Might as well type away as not everyone nerds out on movies.

So most people probably know that the voice of SHREK was to be of the late Chris Farley. Upon his death many voice actors/actors/superstars auditioned for the role.

This was a pivotal point in the history of film, because after Robin Williams voiced the genie in Aladdin, Hollywood famous actors, not voice actors for animated films. I'm actually glad this happened because I can say "Watched a kid's movie where Sarah Silverman was the lead".

Dreamworks was behind this movie, and behind Dreamworks was Jeffrey Katzenberg. Katzenberg worked with Disney for a decade, and if you are a fan of anything Disney from the 90's, he had a role in it. He called the shots from the ground up and has a reputation of a stern yet fair person. Sharp as a tack at that.

So after making his millions of dollars with Disney and making Disney billions, Disney gave him the Irish elbow. The bum's rush. Pulled the rug from under him. Splitsville.

Katzenberg, with a newly placed chip on his shoulder, became chief of operations for Dreamworks and got the proverbial ball rolling at a mile a minute.

Here's what I find really interesting... The villain in SHREK, Lord Farquaad, has been said to intentionally resemble Disney's Eisner (who made the decision to fire Katzenberg) but was a complete misunderstanding. If fact, Lord Farquaad is a caricature of Katzenberg himself during his tenure with Disney. "We need the world's biggest asshole, and that's me" is basically what he told his staff.

And it is so brutally honest and a testimony of how open one can be. His character constantly and consistently shows that although he has everything he will never be happy. He compensates for his size. Although he is tiny he is always looking for someone tinier to boss around, even be it a talking cookie.

SHREK also finds a way to make booger, fart, ear wax, dead animals, and downright despicable human behavior to be funny for kids and adults alike. It's incredibly charming while being completely disgusting. An d that's who Shrek is as a character.

There's also a horny dragon, Eddie Donkey, and more extras than needed, but Fiona and Shrek (and of course Farquaad) are more than enough captivating characters to carry a film.

Ralph: "Why are you so freakishly annoying?"

I've wanted to say that to Sarah Silverman so many times.

Last night, my wife and I watched:

Image

Resolution (2012). It is a very well-reviewed, indie horror film that has been described as a lo-fi version of The Cabin in the Woods. It is not the least bit frightening, however, and it plays out more like a (not very compelling) mystery. I did not enjoy it, and despite the fact it is streaming on Netflix, I do not recommend it.

I actually end up watching a fair number of movies I don't like, but I usually only write about movies I think other members would enjoy. I felt obligated to warn people away from this one, however. (That said, it is well-reviewed; so, you might get something out of it that I did not...)

Shrek was great. Most of the sequels and spin offs on the other hand were okay to horribly bad at least as far as I can tell from the bits and pieces I've caught on cable tv.

When Shrek 2 did the OJ chase reference I laughed really loud in the theater, but no one else did. I felt old.
