Ok so here is the setup ---> Model 2 Genesis and Sega CD with 32x attached..
When I do not have the 32x attached, everything works fine.
With the 32x attached, everything plays fine on all of the systems, however when I hit power to shut them off, the red light stays on, and sometimes the music from the game with keep playing, and the image on the screen with just stay there... Sometimes if i hit reset after this, if there is a game in the system, the game will reboot, or if i swap games while it is frozen, the new game will start. This only happens sometimes though, other times it just stays frozen. Every once in a while after hitting reset, if i wait about a minute, the systems finally shut off. If I unplug the Genesis or the 32x, one at a time, they will stay powered on. The only way to shut the behemoth off consistantly, is to unplug the 32x and Genesis at the same time.
Does anyone know why this happens? Does this happen to anyone else? This happens with both of the 32x units I have. It also happens regardless of if the Sega CD is attached.

Re: Weird 32x Problem
I had that problem when I hooked the 32x up to the genesis using a generic mini-din cable. Turns out the real 32x-genesis cable isn't just a generic mini-din but the wires cross over somewhere so that the power off command doesn't get sent from the genesis to the 32x unless you're using the official cable. Mine started working as it should when I got my hands on the right cable. Doing that is another story...
Re: Weird 32x Problem
That would be it.. thanks. Most likely im just going to have to deal with it, because i do not see a cheap official cable anywhere in my future..

Re: Weird 32x Problem
Well, it's clear you already have a cable with the right ends on it. You could disconnect the connectors and create a cable with the proper cross-over capabilities. I'm sure there are some technical diagrams somewhere on-line (I don't know where they'd be, however). In fact, if you have a little spare change to throw at the problem, we have some moderately skilled individuals here in the Hacks and Mods forum area who might take on this project for you.
