It's a genre I'm not familiar with all that thoroughly so this just happens to be one I've played. I might argue that if we were ever going to do a rougue-like, I'd suggest we do Rogue.

I would nix Rogue, Hack, and NetHack, mainly because no one would actually finish them.

Castle of the Winds is probably the best choice.

I'd suggest a Mystery Dungeon or Shiren the Wanderer games myself, but I don't have much experience with the genre either.

Is Toejam and Earl considered a Roguelike? It definitely has similar elements.

Yes, but it was already a TR title.

I don't think a game has to be finishable to be included in TR, right?
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

From my experience with the genre, a title from that series would be best.

Nah. But I'm more inclined to play a TR game if I know I actually have some shot of starting and finishing it within the month.

It's unfortunate that Castle of the Winds is only available via PC, even if it is free these days. I absolutely love the game and nominate it regularly for TR, but I'm not surprised it never gets picked up.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates on DS. I'm about 6.5 hours in now. The more I play it, the better it gets. My only complaint is that the level designs are simply not very good. Everything else is fun enough.

Borderlands on 360. This is a pretty fun game to play co-op so far. I hope the environments change up from just desert wasteland though. The motif gets old fast. Maybe some underground caves or bombed out cities or something. Fun shoot'n'loot though.

Hahaha, no, sorry. You will find a few underground caves and a couple of towns(even one in a big trash pile!), but for the most part you'll be stuck in desert wasteland. Sorry, chief.
