I agree that
King's Quest games aren't actually very good as a whole, most of the early games are extremely dated and some of the design choices still found on some of the later games (Timed events, mazes, trial and error etc.) are grating. But there's good stuff in the games too beyond the necessary line graph to map out the dessert and I really don't think they'll be able to copy it. At best I see them making a decent game with the
King's Quest license plastered over it.

Well, it's not so much it being PnC or Parser-based that as developers having to admit so early that "Oh, this won't be like the King's Quest you know". Doesn't give me faith on the project.
