I have been reading up on them and I know of 3 different Dreamcast emulators, Chankast, NullDC, and Demul. The last one I didn't even know about until I started browsing these forums recently.
Has anybody used one or more of these extensively and whats the performance like? Which is the best? I know most emulators hardly ever get to 100% of everything, but are any of them close? I have a couple images downloading at home and will probably try them out over the weekend.
I have a 1.86GHz C2D, 512MB 8800GT and 2 gigs of ram running XP MCE, is that going to cut it or do I need something newer?

Re: Best Dreamcast Emulator
damn i was hoping someone would respond to this cause im also interested.........but im too lazy to do the research.
Im currently trying to ungeek my living room by emulating most everything on my computer and using the tv output. just kinda tired of having tons of consoles, wires, game switchers and such crowding up the place, plus i dont have an extra room in my house for a game room.
Re: Best Dreamcast Emulator
i used null dc until i got an actual dreamcast
i only used it to play ikaruga though
but it played pretty much perfectly until the second level
for some reason on the seond level (no others) in one stage through the level
you can no longer see the bullets
tbh made it more fun to get through XD

Re: Best Dreamcast Emulator
Neither do I, I sold my old DC off a while back and have been getting the hankering to play one again, but am leery of buying a used one off of ebay. The new ones on there are going for $100+ which I guess is still a steal for such a good system. I may still do this if I cant find a good used one.miked wrote:damn i was hoping someone would respond to this cause im also interested.........but im too lazy to do the research.Im currently trying to ungeek my living room by emulating most everything on my computer and using the tv output. just kinda tired of having tons of consoles, wires, game switchers and such crowding up the place, plus i dont have an extra room in my house for a game room.
Re: Best Dreamcast Emulator
I haven't heard of demul, but I haven't really been paying attention either. last I heard NullDC was the best. Still though none of them are as good as say psx emulation.
Re: Best Dreamcast Emulator
my advice is to actually buy the real thing
its cheap enough, and games can be ripped
its not like you have to buy the system AND the games...
of course whatever game you think deserves an original copy you can buy
