Re: Help with burning Sega CD games for X'Eye
I have an X'eye as well and haven't found any difference between burning them for the X'eye versus burning for the regular Sega CD.
Do you have a Sega CD you can test these burns on as well??? Have you tested the burned discs on an emulator???

I've always used Nero, now I use Brassero (linux only). I just selected "burn image to disk", selected the cue, and burned. They say burn at a low speed... but I've always ignored that and burrned at 16X plus.

I tried everything and can't get sega cd games to play on my cdx. I'm guessing I won't have any luck getting them to play on a regular sega cd either. I tried downloading Nero, and I will never buy a product from them again, it basically took over my computer, converting practically every file to open or run with Nero, didn't come with an uninstaller, and stuck me with search bars, tool bars, and endless other crap. I'm still finding filetypes months later that I go to open and it says Error, can't find Nero. . . And I still can't get rid of traces of the program. . .AUGH

When installing the free version of Nero there are a few screens to watch for.Jrecee wrote:I tried everything and can't get sega cd games to play on my cdx. First off like most shareware Windows apps there are 2 or 3 screens trying to install 3rd party software like search bars and the sort. Say NO.
Secondly there is a screen that asks what filetypes to associate with this app. Nero, (because it deals with disc images mostly), default associates with all kinds of types including iso, rar, zip, bin, cue, and several others that might not actually be images of any sort. Deselect ALL of them (unless you want to).
If you forgot to do this, then in any explorer window (double click My Computer, fastest way to get there) go to the "Tools" drop menu. The last entry is "Folder Options". Open that. Then the last tab (furthest right) is "File Types".
In here this associates any app with a file type. You can sort by application name, go find Nero, and change all the entries to what you'd prefer (or NONE if you prefer that).

Thanks. Went in there and it looks like I've got em all now. I am usually pretty good about watching out for search bars and bs that programs want to install so I'm not sure if Nero had it hidden with some other installations. . . What really annoyed me was that there was no uninstaller at all, and add remove programs would simply not kill it. I eventually got rid of what I think is most of it and add remove programs said it was uninstalled and removed it from the list. Unfortunately when I put a cd in the drive and the "what do you want windows to do" box pops up, Nero is still an option in there, it says Error: unknown resource ID: Using Nero Express.
Oh well. . .
