grandia 2 opinions

Post by RCBH928 »

Hello

I am no rpg fan, as a matter of fact I hate it. But I never really played one. I just cant take all the talking no playing(why they call it videoGAME?) and most i hate the surprise enemies. They come out every 3 min, I am not sure how this is enjoyable to any one.

My question is , that i got this game for the dreamcast and I think I am going to play it. But before i start can any one give me any kind of advice or opinion of this game as a new comer to this genre? How many hours does it require to finish, is ti good or bad? difficult or easy? enjoyable or not? any comments?

I am big fan of RPGs and of the original Grandia but I somehow didn't really like Grandia 2. I played it for a good number of hours but then I just stopped, which is very unusual for me. It's not a very difficult game if I remember well, but I think you should probably go with something else as your first RPG. Still, why don't you give it a go for an hour or two and see how you like it?

How funny, I'd recommend Grandia 2 strongly. It is a highly traditional RPG, with relatively modern graphics. It is quite easy to play through, but then we don't really play these things for the challenge. There are a lot of cut scenes, but at least they're voice acted so you're not paging through a bunch of text. It is an old school style turn-based RPG with random enemies, so you're going to have to get used to that. But for an introduction to the genre, Grandia II is really pretty good. You could(and should, someday) play Chronotrigger, but the graphics and sound can make it a little tougher to stick with an older game rather than a new one.

I'm not a rpg fan at all and I liked grandia 2 quite a bit, not as much as the first one but it was still good. My main problem with most rpgs is how lame the batle systems are, the whole stand in a line and take turns thing just doesn't work for me. I like the battle in Grandia a lot though, there's a little more to them since you can actually move around and have a meter telling you when the next moves are coming up. Plus there no random encounters.

I'm playing Grandia II for the first time right now.

So far I'm enjoying it. They do a good job of getting you involved in the world. The characters are amusing and the dialogue isn't the typical, meaningless, trivial blabber.

The graphics are quite good and I'm enjoying the combat system.

Chrono Cross, it's (arguable) sequel, got a 10. Although I think you'll find most people like chrono trigger better.

G2 is fantastic. Just play it. I typically hate jRPGs, but G2 just excels in all areas, and actually has a battle system thats engaging. Boss fights very often push you to your limits also, unless you grind a lot, which I don't.

I'm with Moz here--I can't stand JRPGs, generally, but Grandia 2's battle system kept me engaged where the plot and characters lacked.
