What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

According to Wikipedia it's getting mixed reviews and I don't understand why.
I don't either! It was really good. Also, the movie has several connections to District 9if you didn't notice. They show the district near the end, just no prawns.

Heh, when I first read this, My mind processed it as The Patriot, and I was thinking, "Wouldn't that be better for 4th of July?" Derp.

You really can't get more Irish than My Left Foot and Angela's Ashes, but neither of those movies are exactly edge of your seat thrillers and they're both a bit depressing. So, yeah pretty Irish.

When I think of St. Paddy's Day I tend to think of the music. I've already got plenty of The Pogues on deck (especially The Pogues) as well as a good mix of Dropkick Murphy's, Flogging Molly, Bloody Irish Boys, Pubcrawlers, Black Irish Band, etc. Are you from Chicago, Luke? Apologies if I'm wrong on that. If so though, The Tossers are a legendary Celt punk band from your neck of the woods.

In the Name of the Father and Waking Ned Devine would be two go to films, over Patriot Games easily....

The music and the food is what makes the holiday for me. Singing along to the traditional songs, pounding the the table when appropriate, and playing along on the piano always makes for a great time. Robbie O'Connell, The Dubliners, too many to list, will be played at extreme volumes.

I am from Chicago, and while growing up there the schools were almost always empty on Saint Patrick's Day. Even the krauts like myself skipped to see the parade. And every Saint Patrick's day the Blue and Red lines of the "L" turn into somewhat of a non-stop party.

Like Dave's idea of In The Name of The Father.

Moving along, from what I've read about CHAPPIE is that the film has an incredible story building up on what it is to be human, and then instead of addressing that story, the movie simply goes into action movie mode. Apparently a lot of critics think the movie wasted an opportunity to really put the message of the movie under a microscope and instead went for more explosions. I've also read that Jackman's character is a paint by the numbers bad guy.

Neil Blomkamp is BY FAR the most overrated director of the past five years or so. District 9 is a piece of shit, and Elysium was only slightly better. No shocker that Chappie is being panned across the board. I cringed when I heard he got his latches onto the Alien franchise. Would rather see someone like Duncan Jones take the reins on that one...

Be honest though. You want to see a gun that launches pigs in a First Person Shooter just as much as I do.
