Wait for the inevitable limited edition. You'll be glad you did. There will probably be a limited edition before the end of summer. If not then, certainly by the Christmas retail season.

Question kind of remains why the hell you care that much about a limited edition. They're really not all that limited, at least in the english speaking markets. It's just a marketing term for a different paint job but they made in mass unlike in Japan where limited it like a 1000 units or something genuinely small. All you're doing is eating into the hype of a paint job, system still does the same effort and if you're not about just hoarding to flip for a profit later off someone elses back it doesn't really matter.

It appears to me you don't want more buttons as handhelds should be more simple, and you really don't care if the 3D is more stable as you got used to being stiff or just don't care to use it really. There is no value in the New3DS at all other than being a little speedier in loading up stuff and some games open to that fact (like smash bros.)

I'd say just don't bother at all unless some game pops up you just have to play as you're pissing cash for no return value.

The limited ones sometimes come with a game and are the same price that's my interest. I like the designs too but the Mario & Luigi one I bought had a neat design but more importantly it came with a game unlike the Yoshi one right next to it for example, so it's not about the looks much compared to value for me.

That's fair enough and really the only solid reason if you don't need a physical copy, the download is already there and you're ready to go at the right price. I just have seen so many go after them just for a pretty imprint and pay extra and it seems ditzy to toss a good system for custom paint.

Ya that's certainly valid. I don't typically spring for special editions of anything unless i need the thing to begin withr and its just icing on the cake anyways. Plus if I don't buy one now and an LE later I'm not really doubling up.

On the topic of limited editions, while yes, they dont offer any extra functionality, and are "a paint job" as stated, as long as they dont cost more than the normal version, I am fine with getting them. Plus the resale value will hold up a bit more down the road. I was lucky enough to snag the MM XL from best buy, paying the same price, but getting a system I prefer the looks of. On top of that, I was able to sell my Link between worlds XL for $160, which means I only took a $40 hit after a year, not bad.

As for wanting to get the NEW 3ds... The stable 3d is really that good, it makes me want to play everything in 3d, and play older games just to see what I was missing. The improved response of the system is nice, it is just more fluid through out the system. As for waiting on a new limited edition, its nintendo, so you know they will be putting out some, I am sure there will be a xenoblade version, and depending on what we hear from e3, there could be more on the way.

This Friday I went to the mall to see if their were any Mega Man Amiibos at the Gamestop there (there were btw :) ) and they had a new 3ds kiosk set up so I went to check it out, now I thought the 3d on the original 3ds was pretty good but daaaaamn is the stable 3d in the new 3ds incredible, like jaw dropping incredible. I bought one on the spot, did not regret it at all, absolutely incredible. I also bought Shovel Knight on it and man is the 3d great, no double images at all and not even during the most frantic of boss battles did I lose the 3d. Get it man.

That's closely how I went into it. I saw it had come out, and I decided I wanted it, but also that I would wait. That didn't hold up, the above post is why. I called to see if this one store had it, they had one and agreed to hold it while I headed down there. Once I got there, I saw the display and while I had to wait my turn I decided to give it a shot and damn did it impress me how well it held up. It's kind of like how the GBA promised to be all that, but was so dim and hard to see without direct light, and then the SP popped up and WHOA. Kind of like that, but more important because the key feature that was crippled now worked, and even better than the original if you robotically sat there as it's just cleaner looking too. I snapped it up, and I haven't turned off the 3D slider yet.

One curious thing though, I still need to figure out how to turn off the Wifi on it without just erasing the connection settings as that's stupid.

at the main screen click on the top left button (the house and wrench) and scroll down to wireless communication there you can turn it on and off.

I have noticed that the black color seems to be sold out everywhere, plenty of red ones though Which is good because that was the color I wanted anyway, though really would of preferred a blue one if there was one.
