Had a few Goose (or geese, I guess) Island(s) last night. It was their Pale Ale.

Wasn't impressed.

I tried that beer a couple of months ago, had the same impression. The packaging makes it seem like a much more crafty and strong beer than it ends up being.

While we're on the topic of brewskies, I finished up my last Elysian Split Shot last night. This has been my favorite new (to me) stout that I've tried in the last few years. A perfect cold weather brew! Actually I've been consistently pleased with Elysian Brewing Company, even including their Superfuzz Pale Ale which is a bit remarkable being that I'm not generally a huge fan of pale ales.

Their 312 is still pretty delicious, but Goose Island was bought out by AB a few years ago. They used to be a small craft brewery in Chicago, but "not's no mores".

Sake and White Star last night. I've been told that Imperial is the same as White Star, but I call b.s. Imperial is more brut than dry. Not sure what it is about champagne, but it does a number on me. Wayyy more than scotch. Two flutes of it and I get the giggles and rosy cheeks.

Last night - Voodoo Doughnut Pretzel, Raspberry & Chocolate Ale

Image

Very nice ale. It has a chocolate flavor with just a hint of raspberry. I couldn't really pick up on the pretzel though.

This morning at about 11 (but ya know, spring forward)
Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout.

Heavenly.

It's one of those beers that tastes far better warm than chilled.

That sounds rather ghastly. I like my beer to taste like beer.
