Inu Yasha starts to drag the farther on it goes. I've never been able to make it all the way to the end.

Yeah, it does run into filler land, and the original run ends before the storyline gets resolved. Not too long ago they went back and finished the story with a 26 episode "The Final Chapter" (I think that was the name) that adapts from the point the anime stops in the manga to the end, without any filler.

This week, I tried out Summer Wars, and The Wind Rises.

Summer Wars is freakin' awesome. It's one of those movies that's so good, I'd legit watch it again. It's got a really neat concept. Felt very Digimon to me, tbh (which makes sense, since the director of Summer Wars did one of the three Digimon OVAs that were used in the US Digimon movie).

The Wind Rises was pretty sweet too. What you'd typically expect from a Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki movie. Was pretty emotional too.

Plan to try the new Ghibli movie, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, soon. Mostly because I bought it for $23 at Wal-Mart 5 days ago, and still haven't seen it. lol

Same director also did The Girl Who Lept Through Time (well, the anime adaptation anyway, it's been done a few times), and Wolf Children, which are also great. The latter seemed like something that could have come from Ghibli. But, yeah, Summer Wars is a fun one.

The pacing seemed odd to me in The Wind Rises - so many Miyazaki films are slow burn types, that just seemed to jump around.

Fist of the North Star is an awesome anime, and the manga is also excellent as well. Other old stuff from the 80s I'd recommend are the original releases of Black Magic M66 and even more so Appleseed. Outlanders is also a really excellent anime (and again fantastic manga over 7 books.) Dominion Tank Police is around that period too and very amusing.

Actually knew about The Girl Who Lept Through Time, but didn't know about Wolf Children; which is funny, since I have that on my Anime Backlog. lol

Honestly, I like how Miyazaki movies take their time. It fleshes everything out, tbh. Though, honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of the pacing in The Wind Rises either. It was kinda slow at the start, and all the jump cuts were odd. Especially when you consider that they never really tell you how far ahead most of the scenes take place.
Still liked it a lot, though; just a nitpick.

Minor update, but I tried out two new Anime movies today.

First one: Wolf Children.

Really good. Like, really, REALLY good. I can't think of anything that I truthfully hated about it. I cared for the characters from start to finish, I loved the animation, the soundtrack was awesome. It even made me freakin' cry. Besides my first viewing of Sword Art Online, this is legit the only time I've really cried from an Anime.

Second: The Girl Who Lept Through Time.

Only tried this one, as my brother suggested it to me. It was good, and I liked the concept and characters, but there was something about it that made me not like it as much as the directors other works (Summer Wars and Wolf Children).

Ruroni Kenshin is a bipolar anime. Some episodes are silly goof goon nonsense; Other episodes are ultra-serious, even borderline melodramatic.
