One of my good buddies from college is the bassist, and he shreds. I love him live! If you check out the link, I'd check out the song "Gravity" - it has a super sweet bass solo about halfway through that I love
What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpful)

I'm listening to Questionable Company! It's a semi-local (Boston/Burlington) band that's playing at a favorite haunt of mine this evening.

(Seriously this guy is frickin' amazing. Very flashy and showy, but day-um can he walk the walk)

Really JT? No Squarepusher?
Edit, oh yeah, you did.

Heh. Yeah, I opted for his last name, since I did that with every other bass player.noiseredux wrote:Really JT? No Squarepusher?

But while we are on the topic of Squarepusher, how about a bass solo from the Z-Machine robots that he helped to program!
(Skip to 4:20 if you want to bypass the 'making of' and just hear the music)

Great list! ... Although I would be remiss to let it languish without the addition of these fine gentlemen.J T wrote:Agreed!TSTR wrote:The world needs more bass solos.
Mingus!
Hellborg!
Jenkinson!
Laswell!
Claypool!
Pastorious!
Wooten!
Sheenan!
(And really it probably needs some James Jamerson as well, but that dude was too classy to solo
Re: What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpfu
^ I decided to stop at 5, but I was secretly hoping someone would at least mention Pastorious.
Shame on me for not even thinking of Wooten and Sheenan though.

Re: What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpfu
After talking about St. Patrick's Day playlists in the Last Movie You Watched thread, I jumped the gun and I've been listening to a bit o' the ol' Irish today. I was reminded that I hadn't listened to The Tossers in a while. Such a great band! This one is going out to Luke up there in ChiTown (more so the Chicago bit than the whole fatherhood thing, although I'm sure there's a Luke I'm your father joke in there somewhere).
Re: What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpfu
Hand to God I get a "I'm your Father" at least three times a month, every year of my life. On the plus side, when I'm in a pinch my Father gives me the advice "Luke. Use the force".nullPointer wrote: Luke I'm your father joke in there somewhere
Some of my favorite "cliche" Irish sing a longs:
A sailor ain't a sailor
You're not Irish
Ramblin Rover
Dear Boss
and of course, wild rover 1,2,3!!!!
