Posts/PMs rolled back

Post by Ack »

Hey guys, if you haven't noticed, we had some troubles with the forums in the last couple of days. Things are working now BUT we lost several days worth of posts and PMs, going back to around midday Sunday, March 1.

Folks, if you have ongoing conversations or BST trades, I suggest you reach back out to everyone involved to make sure everyone is updated properly on what happened.

Sorry for the inconvenience, folks!

Last time it was because something updated on the back-end and caused a cascade of issues. I haven't heard yet what happened this time, just that we're up and running again.

That doesn't really explain much

I don't know who is actually in charge of maintaining the server, forum software, etc. -- but a bit more detail about the actual nuts and bolts of what's been going on would be appreciated...from Nick, fast, or whoever might be able to explain it.

It was all my fault. You see....this past week, I wasn't preparing for a baby shower. I was committing an act of terror. The servers are here in Michigan and I may have sent out my trained pack of Racoon Assassins to take down the servers. Little did I know, they would be more interested in the garbage cans outside the building.

Luckily, those garbage cans were knocked down and set off an awfully convenient Rube Goldberg Machine of coincidences that sent the power lines crashing down.

True story.

I remember reading in some online articles that there was going to be a leap second added at the end of the month in February.

And that it may cause problems for computers.

Maybe that's what happened to our precious little piece of internet?

Well Dave, if you really want to know, here is a verbatim response from fast about what happened this time:
