Is SMB2 7-2 really this crazy difficult? We've been at it since 11am. 2.5 hours now. We are all irritated beyond belief. Taking a breather - gonna go play outside for 30 mins...
You mean the USA version.......?

That's the final level. There are multiple paths to take, some more difficult than others. I try to just make a beeline right to the final boss.

No love for Super Mario Land 6 Golden coins on the Gameboy? Thats my third favorite Mario game behind Mario 64 and Galaxy. I dont consider SMW 2 a Mario game or it would be #1 by a longshot. I consider it a Yoshi game, with mario just tacked into it for name recognition.

Took an hour break - did some snowboarding and refreshed the minds.

Took that boss down...finally. Ugh. That is a difficult board - but...was quite rewarding, we all had manic episodes jumping around.

Now off to SMB3.

Behind schedule - but having a blast. Anyone else playing? Pics to share?

Perfect weekend for something like this. Rainy day outside, but lots of goodness with Super Mario Advance 3. I only managed to do 4 levels today because it's hard to 100% 5-3. 5-4 gets tricky too.

(I had muted the sound because of the annoying "extra" sounds SMA3 adds that get a bit annoying after some time, so I streamed some Amazon Prime music instead.)

We just beat world 1 and that was enough for us. Oliver (5yrs) beat his first level all by himself in any game today (W1-1). Cal (6yrs) beat 1-2 and I helped/took turns for the rest of the world.
They were confused at first why both of them were not on the screen at the same time... they also keep begging to play Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8... We will try another one tomorrow.

^Nice SB! I like those wall mount speakers - I really need to do something like that...

My kids are pretty beat - we're on world 4 of SMB3. My memories of this one are that it was pretty easy and went quickly...and for the most part it did until World 3 - then just...methodical progress, spent about 90 minutes clearing that world and we're all a bit wiped. Kids wanted to switch it up to something they could all play at the same time instead of this waiting for each other thing we've been doing...

So, the retro 4p machine is out:
You can see the Samsung GX here, back to back w/the projector as they are sharing the AV cable:

This is getting me excited for Mario Maker.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

We are playing today --- starting to peter out though. Progress on SMW is sloooow...I don't recall it being this difficult early on either. We're only on the 3rd world (Donut Plains maybe) and just plodding along. 3 hours for 3 worlds...
