Xbox One
Re: Xbox One
I finally got the headset adapter this week after a long backorder wait from Amazon. FWIW, the PSVita earbuds work really well with it. I was very pleased by the quality of the microphone. Incidentally, I could not find any way to test the microphone quality outside of a game. I ended up testing it by recording a short game footage clip and recording a voiceover track with the Upload Studio app. At $8 shipped from Amazon, the PSVita earbuds are a fantastic value.

Re: Xbox One
Bought a Xbone earlier on today. Got Halo, GTAV, Titanfall and Wolfenstein.
Quite happy even if I already owned three out of those four games prior (which kind of makes me feel like a mug TBH). Still, they are all improved versions so that's okay.
Very early first impression: I hate the store front. It's just loads of lists. Am I doing something wrong or can I no longer search by arcade/indie/alphabet etc?

Storefront just plain sucks. I have to use the search function to find what I'm looking for unless it is a brand new release that will be plastered on the front of the lists.
I have no clue if they've added a way to sort things yet.

Re: Xbox One
So it seems like with the Xbox One they've killed their own Achievement system. The time limited "challenges" along with that day one Xbox One purchase achievement have pretty much made the whole achievement system a joke.
Not that it matters to some people, which I understand. I will say though that if I ever get an itch to 100% percent a game now, I reach for a Playstation 4 game rather than an Xbox One game as at least Sony hasn't made a mockery of their trophy system.

Even the sheer amount of achievements has been ratcheted up. After I had mine for a week, I gained probably 1200 points without even trying.Gamerforlife wrote:So it seems like with the Xbox One they've killed their own Achievement system. I used to be pretty OCD about completing at least half of the achievements on anything I popped in my 360. I've given up since downloading things like Twitch and Netflix on X1. I don't use them a ton and now they have achievements that seem even more inconsequential than normal games.
I don't know about this machine, but I've toasted a few recent gen consoles. Most of those achievements want you to leave your X1 running for absurd periods of time or odd at hours of the day. No thanks.
Other than that and the normal complaint that the pre-Windows 10 UI needs work, I've had a very positive experience. The added horse power is a welcoming invitation. I was skeptical about the controller being SO MUCH better than the 360, but now I'm a believer. And between the X1 and 360 freebies tied to my Xbox Live account I'm never in need of something new to play. It's been consuming me.

Wait, so even though I don't yet own an Xbox One I can still take advantage of those free X1 games by linking them to my profile and then d/l those games whenever I manage to purchase the system?Omerta wrote:And between the X1 and 360 freebies tied to my Xbox Live account I'm never in need of something new to play. Yep. You can claim Xbox One games on your 360 and download 'em when you get your shiny new machine.

It's not hard. I just went into the Games with Gold icon in the store. Clicked on the X1 games and claimed them.

Disclaimer: Not sure if it works outside the USA though, Henry. But it's worth a try.

I see I can't do it from within the 360 itself. The option is not there for me via the Games with Gold section.
But no problems doing it from store.xbox.com

Re: Xbox One
Yay. Child of Light is free this month. I was hoping for a physical release, but I'll settle for a free digital. (Crossing my fingers for a retail Ori and the Blind Forest in the near future.)
There's also some pool game for X1. On 360 there's Gears of War: Judgement, Terraria, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Army of Two: Devil's Cartel.
We have a solid month on Xbox Live, ladies and gentleman.
