Re: Anyone here into Elder Scrolls: Morrowind?
Oblivion was one of the most boring RPGs I've ever played. Generic everything everywhere all the time. Huge bland world that bored the hell out of me. Also nothing like bandits having glass armor out of the blue just 'cause you're leveled up now. Horse armor DLC was the downfall of humanity.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Similar could be said for the Levitate spell, which is a big part of the reason why dungeons in Oblivion and Skyrim are so different in design when compared to Morrowind. There was so much more you could do to explore in general in Morrowind, but a lot of it was well hidden and went entirely missed by a lot of players.MrPopo wrote:The underwater thing I think is a defensible design decision. When you're making a huge open world game you want to have a good mix of things that are cool and easily noticeable as well as cool and out of the way (the latter for exploration people, the former for everyone). However, you also have to cater to the way people think; if you hide some your best stuff somewhere that people never look (such as manhole covers on mountain peaks) then you're wasting your time. My guess is that Bethesda found that the underwater grottos were the least explored places of the game and shifted resources away.

That is also part of the reason Morrowind is so special, because there are layers of detail that can easily be missed. Is a persons desire to 100% a game in one playthrough a good thing? I don't think so. When a game is narrative driven, I feel there should be a capacity to be dissected by the player; lore and information to be read and digested, details to be poured over and contemplated on.Ack wrote:Similar could be said for the Levitate spell, which is a big part of the reason why dungeons in Oblivion and Skyrim are so different in design when compared to Morrowind. Having those travel methods of levitation and swimming just added an extra layer of depth to the facet of exploration that made it stand out amongst the rest. This seems a bit like the Sims 4 argument. Why pay for something that is a downgrade from the previous iteration?

I play Oblivion as self-flagellation. I hate nearly every aspect of the game and yet I've beat it and all it's add-ons through twice.
Aye, bring back mark and recall. Many a low-level loot raid was saved by those spells.

Levitate also breaks the combat in half.

One thing I will always hate in Morrowind is Cliffracers. Thankfully Jiub eradicated them for the later titles.
What are yalls favorite mods? I was always partial to the Museum Mod. It added an island you had to transition to via a boatmen in the Seyda Neen (you got a ticket from a guy in Ald'ruhn). The top of the museum was just mannequins and tables so you could see all the items. You could not steal them and if you attacked a mannequins it was super aggressive and had max health. But the basement had a shop keeper with unlimited money and people that could train you in a some of the skills. It really just let you see everything in the game in one room.
I eventually figured out a way to jump on a light fixture, then into the roof above the stairs. From there you could shoot arrows down at the mannequins. It took up to 700 crappy arrows from a lowend bow to kill a glass armor mannequin (I may have done it a couple times). This mod was only installed after I beat the game once the right way, then I used a new character to kill off the world.

Re: Anyone here into Elder Scrolls: Morrowind?
Screw you guys, action adventure games, that's where it's at

If only this game would run on modern computers....come on gog :'(
EDIT
For those who don't know, that's a spin-off of the series, Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard.
I played a demo as a kid and fell in love with it, but I never bothered to buy the full game. I tried ot pirate it as an adult, but did some online research and apparently it's a pain to run in current systems. And GoG hasn't gotten to it....though do they even do Elder Scrolls games?
