Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
this one seems pretty fun. But do you know if it ends, or are we gonna have another Elevator Action situation?dsheinem wrote: Escape from Doomworld - http://www.mobygames.com/game/escape-from-doomworld

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
the game is over when you make it over
Seriously though, second gen shit is "beaten" when it loops. Or, in other words, when you've seen all there is to see.

So then one stage of Elevator action haha.BoneSnapDeez wrote:the game is over when you make it over

One Dave says Elavator Action is beaten. One Dave says not. I need a third Dave to break this tie.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Not every game you play needs to have an ending to be enjoyable. EA doesn't loop in any traditional sense of that term, so it just can't be "beaten" unless you count the bonus/speed plateau...which seems to be above what the WR is.noiseredux wrote:So then one stage of Elevator action haha.BoneSnapDeez wrote:the game is over when you make it over

I think both of the games I shared with you earlier can be beaten. I think that Entombed can, too. ExedExes can. The game you were 40% through can. Don't just pop something on your list at "E" because you need a placeholder: earn it. You'll feel better.
Or, if you don't really care, count Elevator Action and move on.

I'll get KalessinDB up in here.noiseredux wrote: One Dave says Elavator Action is beaten. One Dave says not. I need a third Dave to break this tie.
So you're saying it's more like Pac-Man/Space Invaders than Mr. Do!/Jungle Hunt (ie: essentially just one level that loops)? Been ages since I played it.dsheinem wrote:EA doesn't loop in any traditional sense of that term, so it just can't be "beaten" unless you count the bonus/speed plateau...which seems to be above what the WR is.
There is a speedrun on YouTube so it seems like some folks consider it beatable.

If you're not having fun with a letter in the challenge then don't get stuck on it; you'll just frustrate yourself and make it much less likely you'll beat the challenge or want to do it or a variant again in the future.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Elevator Action, as I understand it, is one level that loops w/ the door placement randomized. Dave mentions a "plateau" but as he mentions it happens after record holders fizzle out, so...
Entombed was seriously way too hard. Like not fun hard. Cool game, but more a curio to me.
Eggerland does have a definitive end. I'm just not sure I'm thrilled that I'll be stuck on one letter for several more weeks since it's such a long game.
I don't know.
