I have to agree with this one. I used to be pretty good at racing games, but F-Zero GX just crushed me. I really liked it too!
I love the game but I suck at racing games to begin with. It just totally kicks my ass.
I gave up on two games this year - Fatal Frame on PS2, and Atelier Totori on PS3.
Giving up on Fatal Frame was basically due to me being pretty wasteful with my film - I made it all the way to the 4th Night and simply had nothing left to fight with. At least it Resident Evil games you can always resort to the knife, but not in this one. Then again, these are ghosts and not zombies...anyway, being ghosts, the enemies are inescapable and can fly through walls, so I was screwed.
Atelier Totori is kind of a pain in the ass, considering the game essentially puts you on a timer to finish within. I literally needed another two months (maybe twenty-five minutes game-time) in order to get the good ending. Instead, I decided I wouldn't be satisfied with the shitty ending and that I would try it again in the future. We shall see. Games that have this type of timer are bullshit, in my opinion, but so it goes.

IIRC there is a super weak ass type of film that you can use infinitely.

You are bad people
I loved F-Zero GX, and found the level of challenge to be acceptable in the GP mode. The story mode was a git though.
Darksiders: wrath of war, I got quite far. Up to the sandworm thingies and the bomb puzzles that you have to solve by slowing down time. I was doing fine but I stopped playing the game for a month because I was busy with work-related stuff, and when I got back to it I can't figure out where I was so I just quit.
Darsiders 2, I didn't get far. I got as far as the land that looks decayed, where you have to do a lot of wall and ledge bouncing inside a castle, and there was one part where I got stuck, and it seems like I got myself stuck for good because I somehow didn't open a door or something that I need to go through (I can no longer remember, I was reading a walkthrough by this point and realized that I have to start over or find a cheat - if there ever was one - that lets you float).
I eventually beat Castelvania: Harmony of Dissonance. I also recently picked up playing Super Mario RPG, Star Ocean, and Ogre Battle for the SNES again. All great games that I never beat.
