Beat it last night.

Started the run off poorly. Lost two hit points in the mine, but got three. In the last mine I found the key and chest, compass, and shotgun. So now, jungle one with 20 bombs I moved through with no big fear. Jungle two started with the eye flashing, the door to black market was under the starting door. Black Market started with clearing out the left hand side then shooting at a random store owner. twenty seconds later, all the shop keeps but the Anhk ones are dead. Some bombs later, the Anhk is mine. I get out as the ghost is about to touch me.

Jungle 3 is dead is restless with a shop by the exit and two man eating plants. So I opted to exit through the kings castle. Castle had a terrible layout so I went straight to the end and got out of dodge. Ice Caves 1 I died on exit, but the Ankh brought me back minus shotgun. 2 and 3 were not interesting, but I left Ice Cave 1-4 through the Alien Ship, without a shotgun.

Alien ship went quick thanks to jetpack and sticky bombs. Throwing bombs straight up at the Mother Brain is the fastest way to kill her, and you get the rocket launcher in the process. With rocket launcher in hand, the game is stupidly easy. You make one move and boom, everything dies. Anubis took two shots at the end of Temple 1. Olmec almost squished me because I missed timed a jump while placing bombs - I had ran out and had to break a box, but forgot about the blowback of the rocket launcher. But in the end Mutton Chops McGee walked off with the prize. 15:42 time, not great, but not bad.

I stand with RPS in saying that it is nigh a perfect game - it took 100is hours and 500+ runs to beat it. After I finished it my wife asked "whats next" to which I responded that I still have to go to hell and kill Yama, and promptly died on Mines 1 due to an arrow trap and a spike bed.

I bought it last year through GoG and it's pretty damn tricky, don't hate it, but I am not in love with it but I think that came down to suffering using a stupid keyboard to play it. I have yet to fire it up (installed though) on my new computer which I have a 360 game pad with so I'll get far better control playwise at least with it. It seems like it could be a pretty fun game but it gets nasty. The game it's based upon is one joy was never found with for me the few times I tried it and I find that common with a lot of early PC (1980s) games as I think the old NES just spoiled me. Been told that Lode Runner is fantastic too yet it just ticks me off everytime it gets fired up on the NES or whatever.

OP here. I finally beat this game last week. I had a shotgun, compass, and a shit ton of bombs. No jet pack. It took a long time, but I did it.

Noice. Farthest I've been is Temple, is the end too far past that?

After the Temple is the boss fight - unless you are going for the hardcore win through hell.

I still play Spelunky 0.9.8, as I prefer it to newer versions. I've been to the City of Gold a few times, I've beaten it a few times, but never done both in the same run. :(
Final Fantasy IX is the best one

Well first things first is to beat it the normal way I would think. So I'm close! This gives me hope.
