Re: The Wrestling Thread
The whole episode including that match is available now on ROH's website for free members.
I've watched that match about five times now, my match of the year so far.

Only the most recent TV is free until the next show goes out. Then it is archived for members only (which is a great deal at $60 a year actually).
I was at that show live, tremendous stuff.

I've wanted to go to an ROH show for quite a while now. How is it live as opposed to on tv?retrosportsgamer wrote:Only the most recent TV is free until the next show goes out. Then it is archived for members only (which is a great deal at $60 a year actually).

My mom, step-dad, and I went to a WWE house show last summer. We had entrance aisle seats and the whole thing was much better then the televised product, though that's not saying much. The future is NXT or at least should be. It's a better product and it's run on a fraction of the budget.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
It's kind of funny seeing what a mess WWE is right now.
Recently, Lesnar walked out on Raw, not delivering on his scheduled appearance. Apparently, there was a "business dispute" with Vince that pissed him off.
AJ Lee called out Stephanie McMahon on Twitter for the miserable state of the women's division and the low wages they get. Nice public embarrassment there for Steph from one of her employees.
Daren Young has been on Twitter talking about WWE touring in countries that disrespect women and gay people.
All this, just a few weeks after Del Rio indirectly called WWE a racist company on Lucha Underground, Chyna called Triple H a domestic abuser, and Vince McMahon basically said that all WWE fans are idiots who will always come back to his product even after threatening to cancel. So he basically doesn't care if fans, "don't get their Santa Claus" as he put it.
Fun times. I don't know that it's even possible to respect that company any more. It's like everything ugly about it is being put on full display lately.

It all makes sense, when you are a monopoly for 20 years you just don't care. I have seen this all my life with anything "monopoly", its either their way or the highway. I am not surprised by Vince's acts, a 70 year old man, he is about the right age where he is allowed to say anything he wants and no one should take it personally like the rest of the elderly people.
I am surprised by AJ Lee. I wonder how much they get paid, but I hope she realizes that this is as good as it gets. TNA and ROH are not going to pay her much more, and her "talents" are useless outside the pro-wrestling world so she should be thankful.
Don't they like sign something where they can't criticise the company they work for publicly?

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I was at the Rumble in Philly, I don't think i've watched more than an hour combined of Raw or Smackdown since (outside the next night's pre-taped show because of the blizzard).
The product, creative and commentary is so awful. I've really been diving into alternatives.
Purchased tickets already for War of the Worlds in Philly in May. NJPW/ROH show (last year's from NYC is awesome). Hoping for Liger and Okada to be on the tour.
jmbarnes: it's a great bang for your buck live. Three hours for $20-$30, easy to walk around. Ton of fun.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Looks like ROH is coming back to Minnesota in April. Would this be safe to bring a 12 year old to see? I've let her watch a little bit but it's on late so she's usually not up. Plus television is usually different then live.retrosportsgamer wrote:I was at the Rumble in Philly, I don't think i've watched more than an hour combined of Raw or Smackdown since (outside the next night's pre-taped show because of the blizzard).

As for WWE, just dreadful. They offered the free February on WWE Network since I had cancelled last year and I just couldn't be bothered enough to care to even log on. I'll pay for April for Wrestlemania and maybe Summer Slam. If it's not better by then I'm done and I'll just support TNA, ROH, and whatever other shows I can find.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
The demographics for indy wrestling skew very heavy male; safe - sure, she would very much be in the minority though so that may be uncomfortable.
