The stuff airs on American television? Anime airs on American television? I guess I was vaguely aware of that but I don't watch much TV.

Totally bizarre. Why are the characters naked?

The show gave me a few chuckles. If I see a DVD set for like $20 someday I'll pick it up.

At least now I now where TSTR's avatar comes from. Saw the character make that face on screen and I was like "oooooooohhhhhhhhh."
I think the idea here is that Kill la Kill parodies the "magical girl in a sailor uniform" with lots and lots of fetish images. It's not my cup of tea, but I know a few folks who really like it.

I watched Yukikaze recently. I usually like anything animated by studio Gonzo, but this one didn't quite click with me. After watching, I honestly can't tell you what the hell happened. There's a lot of frantic jet fighter combat. There's some talk about aliens, but I never saw any aliens. There's a general feeling of paranoia throughout the series as the main character suspects that his compatriots have been replaced by clones. I'm going to have to re-watch this series before I can understand the story.

It becomes more apparent later on, but the clothing/nakedness motifs are symbolism of societal pressure, being yourself and other similar things along with some metacommentary. Sure, it's also fanservice but I actually liked that theme.

I think the ending credits are very fitting in that regard.

Loving the ending theme for Death Parade.

Really like how the episodes with players being judged kind of have a memorial slide show at the end which is pretty neat.

Setting aside symbolism/etc...
Clothing - or rather an alien in form of thread woven into it - is the true enemy in the series. So, the resistance members wear little or none.

Personally, watching Stein's;Gate, since I keep not getting around to playing more of the game. Watching it dubbed, which is actually pretty good.

Prior to that, watched Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions, which wound up like a lighter-hearted Welcome to the NHK I guess. Enjoyable. Before that, Another which really fell apart/went of the rails later in the series I thought.

Just finished Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis and it was freaking great. Great characters and plenty of action with a nice serving of humor to keep it from getting to heavy. The ending was also down right great I kind of doubt there will be a second season, but if one ever comes out I will be all over it  .

I'm watching Fist of the North Star right now. It's the oldest anime I've watched by a good 5, maybe 10 years.

And lemme tell ya hwhat, I love it. So many exploding heads and unrealistic physics and punchpunchpunching. Fan-freakin'-tastic.

On another note, a buddy and I made a site, wtfismyanimeidea.com (slightly NSFW due to lots of language). It randomly generates silly (sometimes awesome) anime ideas :D

So I just watched the first episode of Human Crossing, a pretty obscure show released on DVD back in 2005. That one episode was amazing completely sold me on the series as a whole. (Although apparently the second episode is the weakest of the series.)

JT, I especially think this series would be up your alley! Each episode focuses on regular people and emotional reflections of their lives. Here's an article about the whole thing that does a better job of selling it than I could.

Even though it's been out of print for about a decade, I found all four DVDs for between $2 and $3/each. I RECOMMEND TRACKING IT DOWN.
