At the high school i went too the entry salary is $45k to $50k, with teachers who have been there a while as high as $70k-80k, and the superintendent making over $100k.

I hope as a Professor you make more than a High School teacher  , if so, thats no small chunk of change.

I doubt there is any members on this forum who actually posts alot making over $100k, probably some creepers who havent registered or posted though.

No chance. As a state employee, my salary is on the public record and anyone who is nosy enough can see what I and other similarly-employed professors make. It is true that some professors do very well, but they are usually at more prestigious schools (especially private ones) and/or have been teaching a long time. I have hardly been teaching long enough or done anything "superstar-ish" enough to be earning or demanding anything close to what the top half of the profession earns.
Part of my work in graduate school involved dealing with statistics for accredited library schools, including salary information. For the US and Canada, most professors in library science and/or information science or studies made between $60k and $80k, depending on the region. Rarely did anyone break $100k, but it was usually only for department heads. I recall there being one person around $125k, but that was someone in charge of one of the best library/information departments in the country.

As a still newish professor (only a little over seven years now), I probably make more than most HS teachers but not as much as most HS superintendents. That said, I have tenure and can teach for ~35 more years or so before hitting what the current "full retirement age" is set to in the US. I will also likely teach past that age, though my thinking on when to call it quits may change over time.

A good percentage of the people on here that work in the tech sector are making over $100K I'm guessing.

Also, does it matter how active the individual is? We've had real estate folks on here that don't post much but make a lot of money. Of the regular posters...it's probably Popo, I believe.

Yup. MrPopo has that MS and Amazon money and a new kitchen w/ sweet pots and pans. He also has a NWC cart. You would recognize him if you saw him:

Of course cost-of-living is another big factor that really shapes the impact of a salary. What I pay on my mortgage for a house with 4 acres every month might only rent you a one bedroom apartment in certain zip codes.

I work for and with quite a few of the "one percent" in my area. Not surprisingly none of them are teachers or professors.

One of them is a football coach. Go figure.
