Forlorn, you might consider a correlation between the depression the meds are intended to treat and the disclaimers about suicidal thoughts. Like most medicines this is an effort to avoid lawsuits.
I'm not saying you need them, but you should study up if you want an informed opinion. The meds aren't always good, and they certainly aren't always the answer, but for some they change everything for the better.

I mean, one can assume that the chemists responsible for developing these psychiatric meds, as well as the doctors who prescribe them, went ahead and jumped into college with both feet at applicable points in their lives. Further we must assume that it turned out to be a pretty solid life choice for them. So um ... yeah ... yay for college!

Those are "touches" I was actually talking about. No physical contact is appropriate in a therapy session. Even handshakes are discouraged. Maintaining a physical respect between client and therapist is one of the, if not the, most important things in the profession.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Like putting a hand on your shoulder, or hugging, or making people hold hands in group stuff, etc. I see it all the type in therapist and psychologist types.
I wouldn't punch a therapist who tried to touch me in any manner, but they would certainly be asked "The f**k you think you're doing?" and a decent shove. They shouldn't and can't ask you to engage in any physical contact whatsoever.
So very sorry about your former experiences. Professionals do not act in that manner, and if they do should be reported.

I haven't had experiences, I'm just going by the reputation in the area. A lot of therapy around here, and back home, is touchy feely without getting in any trouble. Might be a regional difference or some such. I do know that they abstain from touching if they believe the patient has a case where touching is a no no, but otherwise I'm pretty sure its fair game.

You mean the store that is essentially The Gap for people who loathe The Gap but shares the same business philosophy?MrPopo wrote: Perhaps if it is a Hot Topic?
For some crazy reason, I miss "mall culture". Wait. No I don't. I miss glamor shots. Yeah, that's what I miss.
