SVU's Gamergate episode

Post by Erik_Twice »

Featuring a fictionalized Anita Sarkeesian/Zoe Quinn mash-up getting raped repeatedly and making awful "level up" puns afterwards. Because they care.

Seriously, this is one of the most fucked up things I've seen in a while and it made me laugh at loud, cringe and get angry at the same time. Seriously:

Anyone seen it? It truly is shameful.

You should see the CSI furry episode.

Wow  . That is fucked up. Makes a joke of rape and gaming culture at the same time.

I have. And this is like that but ten times worse. It would be ten times as bad just on its treatment of gaming and the godawful puns, but taking victims of harrasment campaigns and showing them being raped is just fucked up.

If that's the "best of" clip, I started watching it elsewhere, but I just couldn't do it. So cringe worthy. I remember an older L&O game related episode being pretty damn terrible too.

At least one thing seems realistic: Kotaku posts a terrible opinion.

Edit: Made it to the end and it finished off with a clip from CS: "Terrorists win". Just... what the fuck.

This is almost as bad as the CSI episode where they had to "chase" a perp's character in Second Life because he was "getting away".

All joking aside, they really do tend to show groups like gamers as totally cultish on these types of shows. Pretty much any group that's not in the total mainstream, and I'm sure it doesn't even stop there. I mean the dialogue is so heavy-handed, and the "level up" thing was just embarrassing (and doesn't really make sense anyways).

The worst part is that they're resurrecting talk of GamerGate right when it was starting to fizzle.

Nah, they're trying to bring all the participants in that debacle together by giving them a shared thing to hate.

People are wondering in the comments if the video author added that or if it was really a part of the show. And I don't think it's possible to tell

And yeah, I really got a laugh out of the "I know it's great because Kotaku said so"

Also, campers. What is this, 1999?
