Multiple Game System Switch Box

Post by FrankC »

I am using a 5 port switchbox I got at my local game store 6 or so years ago. I now need more room so I am looking to expand or get a larger switch box. Anyone have any suggestions.

I've never seen one larger than 5 or so. You could always daisy chain a couple together though.

There's info on-line about how to make your own. With a little soldering and electronics skill you could (relatively) cheaply construct your own.

I use two 4 slot ones with s-vid and a head phone out which runs to my reciever. Then I use the av 1 and av 2 inputs on my tv and put a label on which one is which. Sega from old to new is on one ane Nintendo from old to new is on the other. Cable box on 1 and Dvd player on 2. It makes sense to me but still confuses the heck out of my wife. She always calling me and wondering how she can watch a dvd. See...you do need me honey. haha!

Personally I use two (soon to be three) GameStop switch boxes daisy chained. GameStop may have its issues but I have been content with these boxes. Not only do they support composite, s-video, and component video, but they come with a set of composite cables and a set of component cables, all for about $25. Thats the price you'd pay just for the cables sometimes!

Man it sounds like I'm trying to sell these things heh. Honestly, though, I'd never go to GameStop at all if they didn't have these things.

if u have two inputs on your tv just use two switch boxes. i wouldnt use two switch boxes daisy chained to each other for fear of some possible interference and quality loss... just my opinon... let us know if you find something else....

Sorry about the delay, all. Here's the link to the DIY switch box. It looks pretty simple, comparatively, and should be easy to expand for more devices. I had plans to make one but then I got busy.

I agree. Daisy chaining will give you a loss in picture quality and audio. Using multiple av channels is much better in my experience.
