Mixed feelings on Thunderforce VI

Post by marurun »

So, I'm watching a no miss on maniac of TF VI. It's an attractive game, but... There's slowdown in some places a modern console should not have slowdown. Also, things seem to have been simplified a little. Frankly, except for graphics and a necessary reduction of power in the Free Range weapon, this title looks like a step backwards from TF V rather than a step ahead.

Someone who's played this extensively want to say something more about this?

I have not played "extensively" but I do enjoy the game. TF always has a rush/manic feel to it unlike Gradius. I heard the the developer, even though he admires Treasure, did not allow them on the team to insure the feel of the game remained true to TF. I also think do to such a small team, the game reflects that (for good or bad).

A little slow down is good...make dodging bullets more intense.

Like other shooters out there, the slowdown is artificial. It's designed to help out the player in the crazier sections (Cave and Raizing games have the same thing).

Plenty of people don't like this game. I quite enjoy it. Unlock the second ship, bump up the difficulty level to it's highest setting, and don't use the over-weapon. Doing that makes it feel a lot more like oldschool TF.

I don't think it looks like a bad game, by any means. I just think, from the look of it, that Thunderforce V is better, IMO.

I didn't really care for it at first, but i finished it because I was kinda excited for the game. here's my advice, plow through the game once and then never use the default ship again, it's far more fun and challenging with the others.
