The best Pokemon on the GBA is also arguably the best pinball game on the GBA. Two birds, one stone.prfsnl_gmr wrote:To make the list, it must be one of the best games on the GBA; it is not sufficient that it be the game in the Harvest Moon series. Accordingly, and unless other members of the forum agree that it should be included on the list, I think we should remove it. Otherwise, we are just debating your picks for the 30 best games on the GBA, and we will not generate much of a list.

No Harvest Moon games belong on the list, in my opinion. Hell, the only game in the series I could see making a "best of _______ console" list is Harvest Moon 64.
I also don't think any Final Fantasy games need to be listed - with the exception of perhaps Tactics Advance, which I have not played. Like Chrono Trigger (see the DS thread) I believe the 16-bit Final Fantasy games are all best experienced on original hardware.

The GBA versions do have updates on bugs though. So in FFVI the Evasion stat actually does something!BoneSnapDeez wrote:I also don't think any Final Fantasy games need to be listed - with the exception of perhaps Tactics Advance, which I have not played. It also includes the PS1 port's bestiary, two optional dungeons, new equipment and weapons, and removes a lot of the bugs associated with Sketch. And while the translation lost its Woolsey charm, it is more accurate to its Japanese counterpart.fastbilly1 wrote:The GBA versions do have updates on bugs though. That last part may be a deal breaker for some, but it definitely shows the GBA port is superior to the PS1 port.

I'll update the list in a bit, Final Fantasy 6? I haven't played the GBA port but I have a hard time believing the GBA version is the best, wasn't the sound incredibly butchered in it? IMO FF6 belongs on the SNES top 30 it is only right.
So let me get this straight since there are newer ports of Pokemon gen 1 and 2 does that mean that if a Top 30 Gameboy Games was done there would be no Pokemon? That just seems so wrong, makes me feel like I need a cold shower.

I have not played any of the GBA F-Zeros, what about the Japanese exclusive Climax?ExedExes wrote: F-Zero MV & GP - I liked GP Legend more because it was easier, but last year in TR I sat down with MV and did a lot better. Both entries deserve to be here.

I understand why FF6 probably won't be listed... but it is one of my personal favorites. Having that game on my GBA Micro, easily and instantly accessible anywhere, is AMAZING and by far my preferred way to play. The port has some good and some bad, but in the end the extreme portability is what made it my favorite version.
Re: List: Best 30 GBA games (whats in your pocket?)
I think we should include the best of the series as a spot and the ones to follow under honorable mentions. What if a person is looking for a diverse set of games for said system, that way they have a reference to the pinnacle of the series and won't have to go after the whole thing and the list will be more legit. I'm a fan boy of whole series so I know how it can be easy to go overboard on the wants and suggestions too! LolExedExes wrote:I think we'd be in real trouble if we started taking individual games from series. We don't have room for 30 that way. If a series has all good games, it should be included as such.

I think the original post should be re-formatted to fit in better with how these types of list have been done most recently. Its hard to read in its current state. I'll contribute some of my own thoughts on games as the list progresses.

Climax was like a pseudo-sequel to GP Legend, many of the same modes and features are there. I've got no experience with that personally.ninjainspandex wrote:I have not played any of the GBA F-Zeros, what about the Japanese exclusive Climax?
I didn't mention any of the FF Advance games (as great as they are, I have I & II and V) because weren't they just re-hashes of better Wonderswan and/or PS1 versions currently available? They're good as ports but they may not be worthy of being on a GBA list especially if they're done better elsewhere.

I would nominate TMNT (the movie) or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game because they are great. Nothing new but TMNT done well, better than any other version post 16bit era.
