Connecting RF video to Sony Trinitron PVM?

Post by Ghudda »

I'm trying to figure out how to get my PVM to accept RF video input from my Commodore VIC-20. Do PVM's accept RF in any way?

EDIT: From what i've read (which isn't really specific), it doesn't sound like the PVM's have an RF tuner so without a VCR, i'm a bit SOL.

I'm on a Sony Trinitron 20M4U

Nope, no tuner, no RF. There should be plenty of C64 cables out there due to its popularity, I think the plain composite ones might work, but I believe the V20 doesn't have the split s-video like the C64.

Agh, time to scoop some cables off ebay. I was tempted to get a SCART cable for the console, but I may just settle with the composite. Do you think there would be a noticeable difference between the SCART and composite?

It will depend on what pins are used in the scart connection.

It doesn't, but modding the VIC-20 for S-video is actually surprisingly easy. You might have to give up color composite video though.

Looking into this now! Looks like there are some good videos on the YouTubes.
