my first shmup and a question to follow

so i dug through rackets article on all the awesome dreamcast shmups out there and downloaded all the ones i could find in selfboot format. the one im having the most fun with (even though the review says its not that great in a shmupers eyes) is gunbird 2. I really freaking like this game, mostly because the core gameplay is straightforward and simplistic and because i really dig the 2d artstyle. now with all that said would anyone like to point me in the direction of some shmups with a similar art style and basic gameplay?

Psyvariar 2, Mars Matrix, and Castle of Shikigami 2 are all great games that will challenge you for a ong time. And you can't go wrong with Ikaruga. There are very few shooters that suck on the Dreamcast.

ive got ikagura on my xbox360 and its amazing.... but i have got to play it on the dreamcast!!! i cannot believe this game has made it to three consoles (dreamcast, gamecube, and now xbox360).... wow!

Try some other games by Psykio, I think the only other ones on DC are Zero Gunner 2 and Cannon Spike.

Off the top of my head I think gigawing 1/2 was similiar to gunbird. Might wanna check that out.
