I modded my xbox recently with Unleashx. First off, how can I place files on a disc and use them in File Manager to copy them to the HD? Ive tried using Nero 6 with SimpleX and Qwix but can't seem to get it to work. I'm using a CD-RW. Is it because of the brand? The way Im burning it? or is it the Xbox drive I am using? Also, I can't seem to be able to copy games to the HD. I go to Copy CD, it starts, and around 13% it loads the game and the copying stops. And the DVD player doesnt work in Unleashx. Go figure. I downloaded a DVD player as well as a few other apps Id like to use. I would FTP everything but I dont have a router. But what I do have is two different modems. One for the phone which has an ethernet and the other for the computer. That may work. Any ideas anyone?

i do find that the samsung dvd drive is the best one for reading media like cdr/cdrw on xbox.
anyway if you are using cd/rw then you should be ok,for putting apps/emulators/roms into your xbox hdd then burn the files as a data disc at the slowest burning speed.
for xbox games they should be in what is called xiso.qwix converts your files into xiso,anyway for burning games then use dvd-decryptor and burn at the slowest speed like 1or2times.
sometimes it can be because of the brand of cd/dvd you are using,i use cheap cdrs and they work fine but for dvd games i have to use sony dvd-rw.like i said it depends on your dvd-drive.

Thats for transfering files to the xbox using ftp without a router. You have qwix that all you have to do is hit extract iso and it converts it to the format to being used in xbmc.

How do I use this..... well simple

When you download xbmc from the t3ch link i posted you are gona put the entire XBMC folder on E:\Apps\
If you want to use xbmc as a dashboard (you should) then read the wiki its real simple. When you use qwix to convert your isos to xbe files and all that stuff you pass the entire file to your xbox harddrive using ftp and in xbmc on your xbox you configure the path were the files are gona be.

If you want xbmc skins heres a place where you can download them and installation its real simple just go to your xbmc folder theres a folder name skins and copy the skins there thats it.

this guys were the ones that made the m360 skin. Its the one that looks like the first dashboard that the 360 had.

I did the same thing this weekend. I put a bigger hard drive to the xbox i bought here thru the forums and had to do the softmod and xbmc and all that crap from scratch without knowing anything. I just used google to do it. I checked and yeah, Ive got the Thompson drive. February 2002 is its manufacturing date so its definitely not the newer one. Most my games dont work too much, disc read error. I read how to fix the laser so it will read better but I dont have the tool to test the ohms. And thanks for the article on PC to Xbox config. The idiot who gave me this computer took the chip out of the PCI Ethernet card. So, Im sure I could find another card somethere for real cheap. Right now running through USB. Ive already downloaded XBMC. Trying to get that to disc. So, the disc is probably fine and the drive just can't read it. Ill just ftp the files when I get another ethernet card. Can you partition the HD in a way the X Y and Z I think they are, are combined with E. Or any way to get the most room out of my HD?

I was unable to FTP to my Xbox due to a similar situation. Eventually, I got fed up and went onto craigslist with a post requesting Xbox modding services.

Within a day or two, I had several responses. The guy did everything for me for about $15.

So the moral of my story is: If you can't get it to work, try posting something on craigslist. Fifteen bucks was nothing compared to the trouble I saved.

I figured it out. My hardrive can only hold one game at a time. And I found that there is a selection for Copy Disc in the menu. I was using the copy disc under the file manager and instead of getting an error 112 it would just load the game. When I went to Copy Disc under the Misc menu, I had gotten error 112, meaning not enough room. I cleared off my CDs that I had uploaded to the HD, my saves I dont use anymore, and Fable which I uploaded earlier and now its uploading Chronicles of Riddick instead of giving me an error. It helps though since my DVD Rom drive is shit and I get the read error alot. Ill just load games onto my HD if they give me problems.
