Personally speaking? I would say because mass subjective opinion is not objective irrefutable proof of any individual game's worthiness. We all have our own independent tastes. For example, I would easily give King's Field - The Ancient City a 90/100. But it sits at 60/100 on Metacritic. Does that mean I shouldn't like that game then, and I'm plain wrong about it? No. It just means not every game is meant for every gamer. And P.N. 03 is one of those games obviously.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door really does belong on the list. Despite some horrendous fetch-quests at the very end of the game, it is an excellent game. Moreover, the art style has aged beautifully, and the game's writing is spectacular. It is consistently funny and exciting, and I think it must be included in the list.
(Otherwise, I think that the lsit looks good, and it is hard for me to point to a game that Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door should replace. It is better than a lot of the games we are currently debating, however, and I am sure the other member's will be able to settle on one game that Paper Mario can replace.)

Why not replace either Starfox Assault or Kirby Air Ride with it?
I personally didn't like Kirby Air Ride, but a lot of folks early on did...if the swell is to replace with Viewtiful Joe or Paper Mario TYD, i'd support that (personally).
The RE (remake) and RE:0 still seems mixed...need more to weigh in.
The best part of Super Monkey Ball is the monkey target mini-game - hands down the best mini game. This was RUINED in SMB2. Most of the mini-games were worse than SMB1, yes there are more, but they were rushed. The main gameplay is probably marginally better in 2 than 1, but mini-games being significantly better trumps that.
@ninja - I liked BOTH Starfox games. I think some people wanted Adventure to be more Zelda like, and Assault to be more Starfox 64...as stand alone games to people who are huge Zelda or Starfox 64 fans...both games are great. They are both in my personal top 20.
I've really got no opinion on the debated games, don't have any of the REs (but plan on getting them), just picked up Viewtiful Joe, haven't played any RPGs or any of the Star Fox games but I saw unfavorable reviews on both of those.
Carry on!
