Lets go back to tiny houses and Apple computers. If you have a sub 100sq foot house, you could heat it with the current Mac Pros, if you have one of the sweet sweet 6 core xeon version. It cost slightly more than the sailboat fireplace that most people use anyway and you get computing power!

I'd really like a Mac Pro trashcan if I could afford one. They're so quiet for the power they pack. Seriously pretty cool machines.

My main complaint with them is that you cant install Red Rocket cards in them, you have to use a Thunderbolt dock. It runs negligibly slower, but having a 5k card sitting out in a dock is what unnerves me. I also know that this is not an issue that many people have.

No, they had 74 billion in revenue for the quarter. Cook is comparing this year's 1st quarter report to last year's 1st quarter report in the quote you cited.fastbilly1 wrote:Regardless, the 74 billion number is what they did for all of 2014, not just Q4:

“We’d like to thank our customers for an incredible quarter, which saw demand for Apple products soar to an all-time high,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Our revenue grew 30 percent over last year to $74.6 billion, and the execution by our teams to achieve these results was simply phenomenal.

Then that means they made 18 billion. The rest paid for materials, rent, and employees.Golgo 14 wrote: No, they had 74 billion in revenue for the quarter. Cook is comparing this year's 1st quarter report to last year's 1st quarter report in the quote you cited.

You mean there's a difference between gross and net? What?
Seriously though, if I had the money, I'd get one of those cool new mac pros. They look like R2D2's evil twin.
I'm typing this post on my macbook pro. I bought this thing from a (rather dumb) friend for one hundred dollars. She couldn't figure out how to fix it, so she asked daddy to buy her a new macbook pro, and she sold me her old one for a Benjamin. I paid apple twenty bucks for a legit copy of Snow Leopard, and I bought two gigs of RAM from newegg. Now I've got a pretty decent mac for less than two hundred dollars. It's old, but it does the job well enough.
Also, I really want to build myself a little house on a big plot of land. I spend a lot of time dreaming of homesteading. There should be a separate thread just for homesteading and tiny houses.

Have you seen one in the flesh? They're weird. Nothing like what they look like on the website, and much much smaller. They're really dense. Like a lot of tech is crammed into such a small space it's actually kinda unwieldy to pick up because its so small. It weighs about as much as the old Mac Pro but a 5th of the size. Weird.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I'd really like a Mac Pro trashcan if I could afford one. They're so quiet for the power they pack. Seriously pretty cool machines.
When I was buying my iMac 5k I kinda played around with the idea of getting a Mac Pro, and for about the same money as what my iMac cost me I could have had the baseline model. To get anything close to making the purchase worthwhile I'd have to get a 4k screen and go for the 8 core (because I don't like the idea of 6 cores and always have that nagging doubt that the machine would be just that little bit better if it had 8 instead of 6) and then what originally cost £2500 would have cost me around £6000 ... The iMac 5k just looked like unbelievable value in comparison. And you know what? You don't even get a keyboard or mouse with a Mac Pro. You get the machine and that's it. If you want a keyboard and mouse you have to pay extra.

love how these conversations get off topic so quick..lol I am using a mac air, love this thing. But im sure someone is going to call me out and say that I am spam and advertising for Apple...lol
I would love to have a micro home though, it would only be something to have for like 4 years to save a ton of money and then buy a amazing house.
Thoughts?
