I had read that Capcom dropped it for Vita? At least I'm not seeing it listed currently as a platform on Amazon:

I hope it does come to Vita yes, but I only see PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and 360 right now.
It's coming in the Spring; however, I'm not entirely sure if it's getting a physical release. I think that explains why it isn't listed on Amazon. There hasn't been much info about the Vita version post-announcement.

No Vita physical release? That's a bunch of poop that stinks and I don't wanna smell it.

Well, it's 360 for me then. Especially if it has split screen co-op like RE5 & RE6 did.

Tell me about it. I'm hoping it does though since we haven't heard much about it. I'll even take an Asian physical release.

Anyway, it's probably safe to say Sony is done with the handheld scene.
I don't know. People thought that was the case after the PSP, but that topped 80 million consoles sold eventually over a 10 year span. The Vita's sales globally are at ~10 million if you can believe VGChartz (in a span of about four years). So, the Vita might top out at 15-20million if it is lucky...

The question will be: does Sony turn profit from selling 15-20 million of the things? Is it worth gambling to sell another handheld in the next gen to see if the numbers can be brought back up? By comparison, the Wii U has sold about the same amount of systems, and few are suggesting Nintendo will be done with console hardware in the future.

Those numbers aren't horrible unless you strictly compare handheld hardware sales to Nintendo. For example, it will have very soon have outsold every non-Nintendo handheld ever made (perhaps combined) with the exception of the PSP. It might outsell the 2DS and/or the DSi eventually.

I wouldn't be shocked if the next Sony handheld pulled a Wonderswan and stayed Japan only.

Yeah that's the thing. From what I've seen, Vita has strong numbers in Japan only. So on one hand you can point to numbers and say the Vita is doing okay. But then you look at the regional context and things look differently.

And I'm not saying that I don't want another Sony handheld. But I am saying Sony is going to have to support it a helluva lot better outside Japan next time (if they do a next time). Myself and many others feel a bit burned by SCEA's treatment of the platform stateside.

I hope we do see another one in the future from Sony. I think competition is a good thing and I really don't want to see Nintendo be the only player again in the dedicated handheld space.

However, I'm worried about the space in general. My biggest concern is that the numbers for the 3DS and the Vita combined are nowhere near even the PSP worldwide numbers.

It is not a JRPG, but rather an SRPG, and it stars Noire. It is a spinoff Vita exclusive, not a remake like the Rebirth series.
I've never heard of Operatio Abyss. What is it?
From the studio that made Demon Gaze comes Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy, a sci-fi dungeon crawler RPG set in a near future Tokyo. With the city under the constant threat of Variants—genetically engineered monsters—and the emergence of portals leading to a mysterious dimension called the Abyss, the government has established the Code Physics Agency to investigate these mysterious phenomena. The Xth Squad—a unique group of teens modified by the CPA's Code technology—must evade traps, face down powerful monsters, and investigate the mystery behind the Abyss. -From GameFAQs
Also, tell me more about Toukiden? Is it a Monster Hunter type game and is it any good?
Reply hazy. From what I have read, Toukiden: Kiwami is the sequel to the original Toukiden, picking up where the original game left off. I've read conflicting reports saying that Kiwami includes the original game as well as the new content.
SRPG is promising. I've not played the Hyperdimension games, but I've downloaded Re;birth1 to give it a go, so maybe that'll be one I can pick up.

Not interested in Operation Abyss - the Vita is vastly overrepresented with dungeon crawlers as is.

Toukiden I guess I'll have to look into more. Thanks.

I can understand this. I also understand that big-budget Western games don't sell well on the system and so "why try?". I hope SCEA gives whatever is next a good go anyway. Even if the next Sony handheld is Japan only, it may be worth importing anyway.

My understanding is that indie titles sell very well on the system in the US. Makes sense to me as most of my Vita time has been spent on indie titles (Spelunky, Rogue Legacy, Mutant Blobs, Guacamelee, etc.)
