Anyone here into Elder Scrolls: Morrowind?

Post by KayJay »

Basically, i picked up Morrowind for 5.00 At a pawn shop near me, and i am in love with it. It is my first Elder Scrolls game, and the massiveness is insane. It is just so big, and so fun.

Anyone have any fun stories of the game they wanna share?

Did you pick it up for PC or Xbox, and which version is it? Did it include the expansions?

I love Morrowind, though nowadays when I go back to it, I can see what portions of it haven't aged well, and what portions of it I still love(seriously, Bethesda, bring back spears and levitate). The game was an absolute blast, and I liked it way more than Oblivion. Skyrim, on the other hand...ah, I just love Nords.

Its my second favorite Elderscrolls. Daggerfall was just too much of a game for me not to love - it was the right game at the right time for me.

Morrowind was a great game for its time. Glass Armor and a Daedric bow baby.

I have been an avid fan of the series and this year, a have a plan to complete all of the lesser played titles like Battlespire and Redguard. To me, Morrowind is the pinnacle of the series. It was made during that time in games when they were transitioning from leaving a lot of the leg work up to the player vs. hand holding and I loved it.

My wife was also a huge fan of the series as well, having actually filled out a notebook of alchemy recipes by ingredients, something she still treasures to this day, as she has never actually beaten the game.

For me, the stories were really something special. My friends and I would make characters and give them personality and put imposed restrictions on what our characters could and couldn't do. Before going into a city, make sure to have your casual citizen clothes on. Want to change clothes/armor? Don't do so in public, because that would be lewd.

My friend had created this robin hood-esque character who, when night came, would dress in all black assassin's gear and jump from rooftop to rooftop, stealing from the rich socialites and leaving things like gems and gold into treasure chests for the lower folk. It did nothing to complete a quest, but he would just spend some time out of his gameplay to do something silly like that.

For me, I was a kleptomaniac. I had issues with keeping too much stuff on my person. Every shop and building would be dark from me taking every light source. I seriously had a problem. Man that game was great.

Who found the talking mudcrab merchant? Anyone?

Morrowind might well be my favourite game ever. I bought it on a whim because my xbox was severely lacking RPG's. Hated it at first, ended up adoring it. I got loads of my friends into it as well.

And yes, spears, levitate and jump magic need to come back. The magic and enchanting system is much malleable than anything in the series since. Might do another playthrough soon myself.

Its definitely on my list of games to pick up. I have it on Steam, but couldn't get into it. I think it would be a lot easier to play on Xbox, since i prefer console controls.

I would strongly not advise playing this game on Xbox. Just about any PC today can run the PC version like greased lightning. The PC version has far better framerates, much higher resolution, far faster loading times, fixes the journal issue, and the ability to use mods if you like. The Xbox version just doesn't compare in my opinion. The Xbox GOTY version also has a really nasty map bug that can corrupt your game big time. That means if you want to play the expansion packs the PC version is the only safe option.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
