Batman Vengeance
A hidden gem I think you guys (who have not played it)should definitely give a play through is Batman Vengeance. If you were into the batman animated serious than this is a love letter to you all. The game plays extremely well and fluid, with tight controls and a wicked soundtrack. Lastly all the Batman characters received the rockstar treatment with original show voice overs and long (villain) themed levels.

I'll put in a word for Cubivore: a very fun, unique game.

CRT had a nice write up on it here a few years back. It's definitely on my want list it's just not a game in my affordable range right now.mjmjr25 wrote:fastbilly said good things about it.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I guess I'm the only Cubivore fan?
It's so pricey I don't think most of us have played it.
So Smuggler's Run...top 30 worthy?
I'd never thought twice of Smuggler's Run but I may have to reconsider that with the glowing recommendations.

I'll also echo what TEKTORO said, there's actually a story to go along with it, with some fairly good production values (full video cutscenes, for example), and very good controls. I'm only on the first country but it looks really good too. Lots of modes and variety between the missions, and as I said earlier, really good and fitting licensed soundtrack too. Easily a good $5 pickup.jmbarnes101 wrote:I'd never thought twice of Smuggler's Run but I may have to reconsider that with the glowing recommendations.

So here are my thoughts on the best Gamecube games I have played. The games in bold are the ones I am more or less sure should make my list at least:
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - The Wii U version is the definitive, making this obsolete
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Traditional control method makes it my version of choice, but lack of widescreen is disappointing
Metroid Prime - I prefer playing it on the Wii with the motion controls, although there are apparently missing texture features in that version. I haven't noticed though.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - A great survival horror, original story, good concept. Gameplay feels a little aged, but the sanity effects are still cool as hell
F-Zero GX - No other ports available, one of my favourite F-Zero games
killer7 - There's a port on the PS2. I'm not sure if the Gamecube version is better or not.
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - No other version available. Some people dislike this remake, I love it personally
Pikmin - I prefer the Wii version with motion controls
Pikmin 2 - I prefer the Wii version with motion controls
Resident Evil 4 - The Wii version is the definitive one
Resident Evil Remake - There's a HD upgrade now
Soul Calibur II - I love Soul Calibur and this version has link. I can't vouch for the HD upgrade though
Super Mario Sunshine - No other version available
Tales of Symphonia - I presume the HD upgrade on PS3 surpasses this version now
TimeSplitters 2 - Available on PS2 and Xbox. I don't know if the GCN version has any benefits
Viewtiful Joe - Available on PS2, not sure if GCN version has any benefits
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean - It's an OK RPG
Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Great game, but available on PS2 and Xbox
Def Jam: Fight for NY - Great game, but available on PS2 and Xbox
Mario Kart Double Dash - One of the weaker games in the series
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - One of my favourite Paper Mario games
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Available on PS2 and Xbox
Resident Evil Zero - Hesitant on putting this one in bold. I'm not sure how the Wii version compares. I do really enjoy this game in the series though.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader - Fantastic and no other version available
Super Monkey Ball - Second game kind of makes this one obsolete
Super Monkey Ball 2 - Is this available on other consoles though?
Super Smash Bros. Melee - Again hesitant on putting this one in bold. I'm not the biggest fan of the series and I prefer playing the Wii U version. A lot of people claim this is the best though?
WWE Day of Reckoning - Loved by a lot of people back in the day, but I replayed recently and I don't think it has aged brilliantly
WWE Day of Reckoning 2 - see above
Beach Spikers - It's OK...
Beyond Good & Evil - Available elsewhere. I think there's an HD version now?
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg - Underrated game. Quite a bit of fun. Not outstanding though
XIII - Underrated game, but also on PS2 and Xbox
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - The Wii U version is the definitive, making this obsolete

Your comments are similar to how I feel about most of the listed games. GameCube isn't a bad system and I'm glad to own one with a nice library of games - but much of that library consists of fun but unexceptional multi-platform titles. It just doesn't have enough "must play" exclusives to generate excitement, especially now that a handful of the ones it did have received HD upgrades.Reprise wrote:So here are my thoughts on the best Gamecube games I have played. A shame, because I feel like Wii and arguably even Wii U did much better in that regard. Talking about the library of games on either console seems more enjoyable.

Cool game, but unfortunately not an exclusive. It was also released on PS2.Luke wrote:Again: Ribbit King. Show some love homies.
